Rear-View Camera Retrofit

BMW 3 Series Coupé (E 46/2)
BMW 3 Series Saloon (E 46/4)

These installation instructions are only valid for cars with SA 609 (navigation system).
The installation time for cars with TV function is approx. 2.5 – 3.0 hours, for cars without TV function it is
approx. 3.5 – 4.0 hours. The installation time for E46/2 cars built from 03/03 onwards is approx. 0.5 hours
longer. The installation time may vary depending on condition of the car and the equipment in it.

Important information

These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by
authorised BMW service companies.
In any event the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars
with the appropriate specialist knowledge.
Subject to technical modifications.
Do not archive the hard copy of these installation instructions since daily updates are made by Aftersales
Portal.
All work must be completed using the latest repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work
instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and
safety regulations.
Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. The costs incurred as
a result of this will not be reimbursed by the BMW Group.
Additional cables/lines that you install must be secured with cable ties.
If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used.
All the figures show LHD cars, proceed accordingly on RHD cars.
The switch-off delay (5 seconds) of the rear-view camera can be deactivated following consultation with the
customer.

Ordering instructions
Seal N of the grab handle (not fitted on E46/2 from 03/03 onwards) is not included in the retrofit kit and must
be ordered separately (see EPC for part number and documentation).

Information on operation
The rear-view camera is only active when reverse gear is engaged and terminal 15 is active.

Unlocking hook (65 5 400)
Miniature drill with miniature cutting discs (E46/2 from 03/03 only)
