On November 25, 2018, the Madison Police Department responded to an unresponsive male at
a residence in the St Regis subdivision in the City of Madison. Officers found the subject
deceased from an apparent drug overdose. Evidence collected on scene was sent to the State
Crime Lab for analysis along with toxicology samples that were collected by the medical
examiner. The toxicology results are still pending; however, some of the evidence collected
returned as Clonazolam in the form of counterfeit Xanax.

Investigators with the Madison Police Department continued working with the evidence
collected and a suspect was identified as Jeremy Jamal Booker of Jackson, Mississippi. Booker is
suspected as the supplier of the counterfeit Xanax collected on the scene in the City of Madison.
Investigators with the Madison Police Department coordinated their efforts with the Narcotics
Unit of the Jackson Police Department.

On December 21, 2018, Investigators were able to establish a purchase of 10 dosage units of
Xanax from Jeremy Jamal Booker at The Crossings at Ridgewood Apartments located at 5880
Ridgewood Road in the City of Jackson. Jamal Booker was taken into custody at this location
while he was still in possession of the 10 Xanax which were later determined to be the
counterfeit substance Clonazolam. Investigators with the Madison Police Department and the
Jackson Police Department were also able to secure the apartment at The Crossings at
Ridgewood Apartments. This was the same apartment that Jamal Booker was occupying prior to
his arrest. Investigators with the Jackson Police Department secured a search warrant for this
apartment where a large quantity of Xanax was seized along with 2 firearms, and several ounces
of marijuana. Two additional subjects were also arrested inside the apartment where the
Xanax, marijuana and firearms were seized.

The Madison Police Department charged Jeremy Jamal Booker with Conspiracy to Sale a
Controlled Substance and the Jackson Police Department charged Booker with Possession with
Intent to Distribute.
