BACKGROUND &
OBJECTIVE
“Our efforts have been to engage,
educate and empower the younger
generation along with businesses and
entrepreneurs towards using Malaysian
Standards (MS). These beneficiaries and
users of MS are a testimony to the
continuing success of our reach and
implementation strategies, towards local
and global competitiveness.”
Both public and private sectors play an
important role in using standards,
particularly in their purchases,
manufacturing processes, contracts and
provision of services. Encouraging the
private sector to conform to standards,
for example, will ultimately enhance the
competitiveness of local industries in the
market place.
Launched in 2011, Malaysian Standards
User’s Awards is a form of national
recognition by the Department of
Standards Malaysia to the companies in
Malaysia that have successfully used and
applied Malaysian Standards (MS) in their
businesses. The objectives of this award
are to:
a) Enhance the awareness and use of MS
b) Encourage industries to produce
quality products and services; and
c) Encourage industries’ participation in
standardisation activities.
ELIGIBILITY
Company of any type and size or business
registered and operates in Malaysia.
CATEGORIES FOR
PARTICIPATION
a) Category I: Company / business with
annual sales between RM300k to RM15
million
b) Category II: Company / business with
annual sales between RM15 million to
RM50 million
c) Category III: Company / business with
annual sales of more than RM50 million
JUDGING CRITERIA
The judging will be based on the following
criteria:
a) Use of Malaysian Standard (s) in their:
i. Manufacturing activities; or
ii. Provision of services; or
iii. Agricultural activities and / or
iv. Procurement activities
v. Others (please state)
(Priority will be given if the standards are
used on a voluntary basis)
b) The organisation has obtained one of
the following:
i. Certification from certification
body accredited by Standards
Malaysia
ii. Accreditation from Standards
Malaysia for its laboratory,
certification body or inspection
body.
c) Other involvement related to
standardisation activities which may
be an added advantage includes:
i. actively providing comments to
draft Malaysian Standards issued
for public comment;
ii. involvement in events on
promotion of standards; and
iii. actively involve in international
activities
NOTE: Standards Malaysia has the right
to visit the company for verification of
related activities
