Technical features
Coarse grain grout based on traditional lime and pozzolana, anti-salt additives and bonders for damp
substrates. It is particularly suitable for the restoration of historical buildings thanks to its porosity, elastic
module and mechanical performance, similar to those grouts used in the past. Excellent adhesiveness on all
brick substrates. Barrier effect against the saline outlet from the wall.
Classification according to EN 998-1: class CSII.

Applications
Bonding coat for restoration renders ADESAN CALCE on:
• old and new brick walls
• walls with significant saline efflorescence
• stone and tuff walls

Important warnings
• Do not add water to the mix after it has started setting.
• Do not add additives, cement or other binders to ADESAN RINZAFFO CALCE.
• Do not use at temperatures lower than + 5°C or higher than + 35°C.
• Do not float finish the product.
• Do not apply on gypsum-based substrates.
• Apply on clean substrates saturated with water.
• Do not apply under beating sun or strong wind.
• Within 1 hour from the application of ADESAN RINZAFFO CALCE, apply the render ADESAN CALCE.

Substrate preparation
The substrate must be completely free of render for at least 50 cm over the height with moisture. Remove
every detaching or inconsistent previous restoration. Carefully wash with water till saturating the substrate
and wait for the surface water to evaporate, then apply the render ADESAN RINZAFFO CALCE on a water
saturated surface yet dry at the top.

Mix preparation
The preparation is made in standard yard cement mixer. Pour about 5 l of water every bag; then pour
the powder continuously with rotating cement mixer, mix for about 3 minutes detaching the powder from
the walls. Add more water up to max. 5.5 l every bag (including the initial quantity) and mix for further
2-3 minutes.

Mix application
The product is applied by trowel in a 5-mm thickness. Do not float finish the surface after the application.
Apply the product on walls not exposed to sun or ventilation; in such cases, wet the product with sprayed
water after the setting. Spread ADESAN CALCE within 1 hour from the application of ADESAN RINZAFFO
CALCE. Use a suitable levelling grout (ADESAN RASANTE) to finish the render.

Cleaning
Clean the tools with water before the material has hardened. After the hardening, cleaning can be made by
mechanical removal only.

Specifications
The restoration of damp walls shall be made by applying a coat of at least 5 mm of a bonding grout,
e.g. ADESAN RINZAFFO CALCE, followed by a coat of at least 2 cm of render, e.g. ADESAN CALCE by
ADESITAL S.p.A, of class CSII according to the European Norm EN 998-1.
