Gabbro

Gabbro is an intrusive igneous rock which is


chemically equivalent to plutonic Basalt

Chemical Composition: Mainly Plagioclase: (CaAl2Si2O8), (NaAlSi3O8) and Pyroxene

(Augite): (Ca, Na)(Mg, Fe, Al)(Al, Si)2 O6 with lesser Olivine:

(Mg, Fe)2SiO4.

Luster : Dull

Hardness :7

Color : Dark grey to black

Streak : Black

Crystal form/Habit : May exhibit acicular habit
