Lesson Plan in TLE 8

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are able to:
TLE_IA17/8VT-O2-1
a. prepare a list of electrical tools and materials for a specific job
b. identify the tools to be used for a specific job
c. value the uses and importance of the tools
d. identify the materials commonly found in the classroom
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Electrical Tools and Equipment
Materials: power point, tools, materials, chalk and board
Reference: pp. 12-20 K to 12 Teacher Modules
III. Lesson
a. Preliminary Activities
 Daily Routine
 Prayer
 Classroom Cleanliness
b. Developmental Activities
Awareness
Electrical task can be accomplished systematically to save time, effort, and resources.
Most of the work cannot be done using bare hands. To do the task, electrical tools and
equipment are needed to perform the job.
Motivation
Look around this classroom, write down 5 common materials you found and indicate its
use.
c. Lesson Proper
Electrical Tools and Equipment
Screw Drivers- These tools are made of steel hardened and tempered at the tip used to
loosen or tighten screws with slotted heads. They come in various sizes and shapes
1. Standard/ Flat Screw driver – The blade tip is wedge-shaped and resembles negative
(-) sign. This is used to drive screw with a single slot head.
2. Philip Screw Drivers- This has a cross tip resembling a positive (+) sign. This is used
to drive screw with cross slot heads
3. Stubby Screw Driver- comes in either standard or Philip screw driver with short
shank or blade and a shorted handle used to turn screws in tight space where
standard screw driver cannot be used.
4. Allen Screw- This could be in the shape of a screw driver or a wrench. Its function is
to drive screw with hexagonal slot head.

Hammers- These are tools used in driving or pounding and pulling out nails. They are
made of hard steel, wood, plastic or rubber. The following are types of hammer;
1. Claw hammer
2. Mallet (rubber head)
3. Ballpeen hammer

Pliers- These are made from metal with insulators in the handle and are used for
cutting, twisting, bending, holding, and gripping wires and cables.

1. Combination pliers= this is used for gripping, holding, and cutting electrical wires
and cables and even small nails. They are usually used by linemen in doing heavy
task.
2. Side cutting pliers= this type of pliers is used for cutting fine medium and big wires
and cables.
3. Lon Nose Pliers= this used for cutting and holding fine wires. This can reach tight
space or small opening where other pliers cannot reach and also used in making
terminal loops of copper wires.

Wire Stripper= a tool used for removing insulation of medium sized wires ranging from
gauge #10 to gauge #6.

Electrician’s knife= this is used by linemen to remove insulation of wire and cables in low
and high voltage transmission lines.

Portable Electric drill=a small drilling machine with a chuck capacity of ¼” to 3/8”. It is
used in making holes on metal sheets and concrete walls.
