Eruption and The Full Moon

Tides can be affected by the moon's gravity or the sun's gravity. But the moon's gravity has
an effect that is greater than the sun's gravity because the distance of the moon is closer to
the earth. Tidal sea conditions occur twice, namely during full moon and new moon. In the
hemisphere that experiences a full moon, the distance of sea water with the center of the
moon is closer than the distance of the center of the earth to the center of the moon. The
same thing happened in the hemisphere that experienced a new moon, the distance of sea
water with the center of the moon farther than the distance of the center of the earth with
the center of the moon. This results in the moon's gravitational force being stronger than
that of the earth to attract sea water. Sea water will be a little higher on the surface of the
earth, this is what is called tidal sea water.
The theory says that Eruption is the process of releasing material from the earth and
fragments caused by volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruptions are part of the process of
volcanism. generally, this is caused by the pressure of a strong vapor that originates from
inside the earth which continually drives magma. Magma, who was pushed earlier, gradually
moved up because her mass was lighter than the surrounding solid rock. on its journey, this
magma, which has a temperature of about 1200 degrees Celsius, melts the surrounding
rocks and there is a buildup of magma. from here, the pressure originating from inside the
earth becomes even greater because magma is hampered by the impenetrable lithospheric
rock layers. because of the enormous pressure in this area, so there is a huge amount of
energy stored so that the slightly more fragile rock layers crack and pass through the crack
gap that the magma radiates out. while propagating, the magma melts the crack channel so
that it forms a channel called the crater pipe. when this lithosphere rock layer is not able to
stem the power from the magma, there will be enormous bursts as a reaction from the
release of energy from the earth. as a result, the earth's surface was broken.
So, what is the relationship between these two phenomena? both of these phenomena
were related to the disaster a few days ago, a tsunami in the Sunda Strait. this tsunami
eliminated the area of Lampung and Banten. This disaster occurred on Saturday 22
December 2018.
"There was no earthquake that triggered the tsunami at that time. That was the difficulty in
predicting the cause of the tsunami at the beginning of the incident," said Head of the BNPB
Data, Information and Public Relations Center, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
BMKG said the high waves on Carita Beach, Anyer, Banten were caused by a full moon. This
phenomenon causes high tides. However, the phenomenon of the full moon occurs when
the mountain krakatau child erupts, resulting in landslides from the earth's surface. this is
difficult to predict because researchers can only think that tsunamis occur because of
tectonic activity or also called earthquakes centered in the ocean.
The process of evacuation and handling of tsunamis in Banten and Lampung is still ongoing.
More successful in reaching previously isolated areas, the number of deaths found
continues to increase.
Not only that, fake or hoax news that often makes people panic.
The Head of the Data and Public Relations Center of the National Disaster Management
Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho gave the latest information about the number of
victims Tuesday (12/25/2018) until 1:00 p.m. WIB. Until 1:00 p.m. WIB, as many as 429
people died in the tsunami disaster. In addition, 1,485 people were injured and 154 were
declared missing.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) continues to address information about
tsunamis in Anyer, Banten. In addition to the data about the victims in question, there are
also a number of details about damage to buildings. BNPB Head of Public Relations Sutopo
Purwo Nugroho said, so far, there were three regions that experienced a tsunami, namely
Pandeglang, Serang, and South Lampung. Death victims and damaged buildings from three
regions.
The lesson that we can take from this incident is to always thank the almighty God for
everything, and take important lessons to be more alert in dealing with disasters.
