SAMSUNG SCX‐4300 ALL IN ONE PRINTER 

FIRMWARE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 
This Firmware only needs to be installed ONCE. If the printer already has the Firmware 1.18fix installed, it 
is OK just to replace the used cartridge with a new remanufactured cartridge and chip. If your printer has 
1.18fix installed, go straight to Paragraph G 

 
                                                          
STARTING POINT 
The printer is saying: TONER EMPTY, REPLACE TONER. It will not print

BEFORE YOU PROCEED, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:‐ 

1. Before installing this Firmware, you must ensure that the printer is in ORIGINAL condition and has not 
been modified, particularly on the motherboard. 

2. The computer must already have in it the DRIVERS for SCX‐4300 printer and scanner 

3. The computer should only be connected to the printer. All other USB devices MUST be disconnected. 

4. The replacement cartridge with our chip should be installed in the printer and cover closed. 

5. The power to the printer should be ON throughout the installation. 

6. WINDOWS XP/ WINDOWS 2000 can read the CD automatically. 

WINDOWS VISTA needs to be in ADMINISTRATOR mode to run the CD. 

(Open the CD, RIGHT CLICK on “cdrun” then select “run as ADMINISTRATOR”) 

7  It is recommended to close the AntiVirus software on your computer until the installation is complete 
(the AntiVirus software often mistakes the driver for a Type32 virus and this is not correct) 

8. Start the printer and make sure it has finished its initial routine – red lights ON!

A. CD in your computer, Type password: 4300, then click “YES” 

                                                

B. Click “INSTALLATION DRIVER” 

                                                  

C. Click "ENGLISH"  
 

                                                  
 
D. Click “START” 
 

                                                
 
E. Click again on START and now the setup is running

About 10 seconds later, the printer lights start flashing. 
After another 2‐5 seconds, the printer control panel will show: 
 
A) “PC TO DRAM IS OK” (If displayed PC TO DRAM IS NG, it means that the computer and the printer have 
not communicated together successfully and you will need to check all the connections and start again) 
B) FLASH IS ERASING  
C) FLASH PROGRAMMING 

                                                         

Then the printer will automatically restart, the installation is complete. 
Click “QUIT” to finish. 
 
F. Final Verification  
Once the installation is finished and the printer has finished warming up again, you must use the panel on 
the printer as follows: 

Go to MENU ‐> 10.Maintenance ‐> Clear settings ‐> All settings ‐> OK 

Then printer light will flash, soon turning to normal GREEN light. 

Print SYSTEM DATA LIST ( MENU ‐> 8. REPORT ) 

If it shows 100% toner, installation is successful.

NB:  If, after installation, the printer still does not show 100% toner, check on the Report that the 
“Firmware Version” is 1.18fix. If not, the Installation should be performed again.   
 
G. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION 
Each time that you instal a remanufactured cartridge, it is advisable to reset the parameters in the printer 
so that it starts with 0 pages and 100% toner. 

To do the reset, repeat the step in F  

Menu‐> 10.Maintenance ‐>Clear Settings ‐> All Settings ‐> OK 

The capacity of the OEM cartridge is 2k copies @ 5% 

If you fill with enough toner to do 3k copies, the printer will go to “TONER LOW” at approx 2k but will allow 
printing  to  continue  until  toner  is  exhausted  –  you  should  make  sure  that  the  customer  checks  this  very 
regularly if he is using SCX‐4300 for FAX.
