Narrative Report and Pictorials on Nutrition Month Celebration (July) and Special
Activities Related to Health

I. Introduction:

The National Nutrition Program was launched since July 1, 1974. Issued presidential decree no. 491 creating the
national nutrition councils known as the Nutrition Acts of the Philippines, was the decree also declared July as” Nutrition
Month” to create awareness among the people of the importance of proper eating habits. This school year, Month of
Nutrition; the theme for this year is, “Timbang Iwasto, Tamang Nutrisyon at Ehersisyo.”

II. Objectives:
1. To improve the health and living condition among malnourished children and out of school youth.
2. To produce more nutritious food and community for supplementary feeding purpose.
3. To develop and equipped the school with different species of agricultural crops.
4. To beautify school sites, roadside and houses.

III. Activities and Accomplishment during Nutrition Celebration


That on July 30, 2015, the highlighted commemoration of Nutrition Month in Barangay San Vicente Covered
Court that caught the attention of all guests and participants which was started at 8:00 o’clock in the morning.
During the program the proper, a welcome address was given by Hon. Elpidio M. Marquez, Barangay Captain,
followed by a message by Engr. Elmer Degorio, a MNAO and an inspirational talk by Hon. Daniel Batosalem. Another
message from the municipal nutrition officer, Mr. Josenilo F. Sang-an, Hon. Vice Mayor Eric Estela, M.D., and the
closing remarks was given by Ho. Josue Desalia, Brgy. Kagawad, Commitee Chairman on Health.
There were different contests during the culmination program, like nutrition-trade fair display, cooking contest
(males and snacks), healthy baby contest and the poster-making contest wherein the Jesus Lumain Elementary
School participated.

IV. Special Activities Related to Health


The school also has conducted annual deworming to the pupils from Kinder to Grade VI in cooperation with
the DepEd personnel and barangay health workers. They were giving free tablets for the pupils. This activity is made
for the welfare of the pupils as they will grow healthier and become active in studying their lessons.
In addition to this, the school also conducted the national hand washing activity from Kinder to Grade VI to
remind the pupils the importance of cleanliness especially their hands.

V. Recommendation:
In order to strengthen the involving community and school children, it is respectfully recommended to have
always health services to the people in rural areas and provide medical care and medicines to the barangay people.
The school children needs food supplement to those who cannot afford it for the reason of poverty, in order to
assure the health and well-being of the children.

VI. Conclusion:
This national nutrition program for the government forming nutrition to operate and help groups; infants,
pregnant women, nursing mother, school children and in the community that moderately and severely
malnourished to discover and learned to develop the importance of proper eating habits for the better nutritional
status of the population.
