ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

The assignments are an integral part of learning experience. The purpose

of providing assignments to students is to provide them with off-work
experiences in using the theories, procedures and experiences they
learnt to solve real life work problems. These also allow our Academic
Facilitator (AF) to provide students a feedback on their problem solving
capacity. The types of assignments may vary dependent upon subject
matters and AF. The students should seek clarification from AF if they
have problems of understanding the assignments. It is important to
submit assignments according to dateline. Any deferment must seek
approval from the School of Management via AF who teaches the
module.

Types of Assignments

Depending upon the place of completion, the assignments can be

categorized as

Take home assignments: The student is given the assignment as home

analyze them and present their conclusions on a problem/proposal with
the help of a conceptual framework developed using the
theories/practices they have learnt in the classroom. This could be an
individual assignment or a group assignment. The purpose of this type of
assignments is to improve the analytical ability and capacity to apply
theory to practical problems/plans.

Guide of doing assignments

(1) It is essential that an assignment is written and presented within the

(3) Application of concepts analyze the problem/issue;
(4) Logical presentation of ideas;
(5) Quality of writing and presentation;

to the students by giving them an opportunity to go through the
comments made on the feedback form. It is to be noted that the
assignments once submitted are to be kept by AeU.

FINAL EXAMINATION

This is the Summative assessment amounting to 40% of the mark for each

P a g e 20 | 32
PLAGIARISM

It is understandable that most academic work is dependent upon the

findings or ideas of others. Students are encouraged to research and
read widely. In preparing your essay, assignments or project reports, you
must be able to demonstrate to your assessor that it is your original work
by properly citing your sources of references. As a matter of intellectual
honesty and scholarly integrity you need to cite where ideas,
information, arguments, diagrams or other theoretical models come
from, regardless of whether you are quoting directly, paraphrasing, or
simply mentioning or using data from published sources, including
downloading materials from the internet or copying or using other
students work. Otherwise, it is considered as plagiarism‘.

Plagiarism is a serious academic offence. Any cases of plagiarism,

cheating or copying, will be dealt with by academic School in
accordance with the University‘s regulations, and may result in a zero
mark for the piece of assessment, failure of the whole course or exclusion
from the program.

You are advised to use a web-based programmed Turnitin to check the

originality of your work before submitting your works for assessment to
avoid any inadvertent and unacknowledged use of another‘s work.
Turnitin has the capability to produce a report verifying the percentage
of your work which is original.

The maximum similarity index set by the University for the Entire Report is
20%. The similarity index is a score which has excluded the Bibliography
and quoted material.
