Enhanced Clinical Notes – The enhanced clinical notes feature allows users to save time
by using pre-defined or user-created clinical note templates. Dentrix helps you improve the
content, accuracy, and consistency of clinical notes by providing many selection lists and
drop-down menus populated with the available options. (Figure 2)
New Treatment Planner – The Treatment Planner includes features and options that have
Figure 1. been requested by Dentrix users. Several treatment cases can be created to offer as optional
or alternate cases. It also includes two new treatment plan reports: Practice Case Report and
Patient Case Report. (Figure 3)
New Presenter – The new integrated Presenter module allows you to build presentations
based on a patient’s selected treatment plan. These presentations can be customized with
digital photographs and can be burned to a CD for the patient. The new Presenter module
aggregates all relevant treatment plan information (such as chart views, X-rays, financing,
relevant patient education, and consent forms) for a complete snapshot of what is needed to
educate the patient.
Digital Signature for Consents – eSignature for digital consents makes it possible for
patients to digitally sign an electronic consent form after accepting a treatment plan. Electronic
consent forms can be customized to fit the needs of a practice.
Redesigned Document Center – The Document Center features a new look and feel,

along with increased functionality that helps your office move toward being paperless. You can
import and store any OLE-compliant file types (e.g. Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft
Excel documents, PDF documents, etc.) in the Dentrix Document Center. (Figure 4)
Redesigned Questionnaires Module – You can create and customize many questionnaire
forms that can include an unlimited number of questions, so you can collect as much
information as possible from your patients. And, you can gather questionnaire information
from more than just your patients by creating provider/staff questionnaires.
Redesigned Perio Module – The Perio chart features a new look and feel that helps simplify
the Perio charting process. With this new Perio chart, you can view the perio graphic chart
and the perio data chart simultaneously, and you can re-size the viewing windows of those
Figure 3. charts. You can also view a graphic comparison of probing depths. (Figure 5)
Purge Appointments in the Appointment Book – To help you keep your Appointment
Book current and correct, you can purge unscheduled appointments. And, your Appointment
Book is automatically updated when patients confirm appointments on your practice website.
Guru LE integration – Guru LE is a dynamic patient education tool that is a limited version
of Henry Schein GURU. GURU LE is installed with Dentrix as a stand-alone product. It is
also integrated into the Chart module and the Presenter. (Figure 6)
Enhanced Patient Picture – Patient Picture now includes options for rotating, cropping,
and deleting pictures, making it easier for you to edit pictures and ensure that they are attached
to the correct patients.
Labnet Integration – Lab Case Manager integrates with LabNet to provide online lab

services and information.
Updated Insurance Information Window – You can now enter the benefit used and the
deductible applied from the Insurance Information window in the Family File, so you don’t
have to open the claim to enter this information. This will save you time when setting up
insurance for new patients as well as when correcting existing patients’ benefits.
Search for Payments in the Ledger – In the Ledger, you can search for specific payments Figure 5.
by check number, amount, date, insurance carrier, or guarantor, and you can print a report
of the results.
Improved Help Integration – You can access several important pages on the Dentrix
website through the Help menu in every module. The Help menu includes links to the Support
Knowledgebase, the On demand Training page, and the Enhancement Request form.
Improved Family Edit – When editing family relationships, Dentrix no longer requires you
to close all modules. This new functionality will save time by not interrupting your normal
patient processing routines and allow you to update the Family File any time during the day.

Billing Statement Due Dates – Create a library of notes for family alerts, billing statements,
case note templates, insurance claim remarks, and procedure notes.
Privacy Settings/Social Security Masking – You can now mask or hide patient Social
Security numbers in Dentrix and on reports so the numbers are not visible to staff members
without password rights. This will protect your patients’ privacy and help prevent identity theft.
Library of Note Templates – You can create a library of custom notes for family alerts,
billing statements, case note templates, insurance claim remarks, and procedure notes.
Family Appointment List – You can select a new option called Family Appointment List
to display all future appointments for every family member on the Family Walkout. You can
select to include all family members, future appointments and continuing care due dates with
the Family Walkout.
New eSync (PowerPay LE) – PowerPay LE is a new program that allows your office to
accept credit and debit card payments directly through your Dentrix software. With PowerPay
LE, there’s no additional hardware or software to buy, and no upfront or registration fees.
Integrated Insurance Eligibility – You can update eligibility status with the click of a
button in the appointment book when you have eCentral. Eligibility status can be viewed in
the patient’s appointment, in the appointment information dialog, in the appointment book,
and in the patient’s Family File.
Close Operatories – You can close operatories for part of a day, an entire day, or several
days in a row, helping you keep your appointment book organized and optimized and enhance

your scheduling processes.
Track Appointment Book History – The Appointment Book will now track the history of
an appointment, recording the creation date as well as the dates of changes to the appointment.

it easier to reschedule multiple appointments or events all at the same time.
Click to Chat – Use a new Chat with Support option to make it easier for you to contact
Dentrix Support and begin a chat session.
Unlimited Quick Label Templates – You can now create an unlimited number of custom
Quick Label templates to suit your needs. You can customize and format the labels to control
what information is on the labels you print.
New Practice Advisor – The new Practice Advisor helps you assess the overall financial
health of your practice. The Practice Advisor monitors several key performance indicators in
your practice, compares them to industry standard benchmarks, and offers recommendations
to help you improve your practice’s profitability. (Figure 8.)

Upgrading to Dentrix G4
If you have a current customer service plan, you automatically receive discs of the latest Dentrix
releases. If you do not have a current customer service plan, please contact the Dentrix Sales
team at 1-800-336-7749 to obtain a DVD of the Dentrix G4 software.
Right Click the Quick Launch icon in the System Tray. (Figure 9.)
Select Updates | Check for Updates to find available updates on your system.
