High Voltage Transient Analysis

(Using PSCAD)
Problem 1

Simulated circuit diagram from PSCAD

Results : Voltage waveforms -

1.1 Load Voltage

1.2 Bus Voltage

1.3 Source Voltage

Results: Current waveforms -

1.4 – Load current

1.5 – Bus current

1.6 – Source current

 Comparison of the results between the PACSD simulation results vs. Bewley-Lattice
diagram -

In this case too Results obtained from two methods are reasonably agreed with each other.

Following facts to be taken into account when selecting model parameters,

 Better accuracy can be obtained from the PSCAD by setting the project settings to a
reduced solution time step value and a lower channel plot step time.

 T-Line model in the PSCAD can’t be copy and paste to use for another line. Separate
module of T-Line should be created, or when a copied item’s data is changed, the
original parameters would change too.
