Project Description: Services Provided:

The project initiates an innovative and
replicable mechanism to finance clean
energy technologies (CET) for households
and small and middle size enterprises
(SMEs) through a microcredit financing
mechanism with three Ethiopian MFIs.
In addition, the project studies ways to
further scale up CET usage through
innovative finance mechanisms.
• Energy need assessment and market segmentation for the client base of
each participating MFI
• Recommendations for selection of CETs to be offered though microcredit
financing, per participating MFI
• CET supplier identification, evaluation, recommendations for final selection,
and assistance with contracting, per participating MFI
• Design of CET supply chains and integration of CET microcredit product into
MFI portfolio, including but not limited to microloan product development,
monitoring and evaluation framework design, training and capacity building,
assistance with the implementation phase, per participating MFI
