Knowing and Developing Your Personality

Higher
Hierarchy of
Needs
Career Path

• Skills and abilities are necessary.

• It is also necessary grabbing the opportunity.
• Break the “Catch 22” (a dilemma where no matter which side you choose, you are
a looser)
• Example of Catch 22: “TO GET A JOB YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE, TO GET EXPERIENCE
YOU MUST HAVE A JOB”
• Job Experience emanates in your day to day activities particularly in school and
extra curricular activities.
• Example: Participating in sports either in school or community foster your team playing /
leadership skills
• It is also necessary grabbing the opportunity.

ICT, Economics and Leadership

• The world is getting smaller and even smaller due globalisation.

• Globalisation has a number of benefits that can give to member economies,
and there are also challenges that should be addressed.
• Local products will be affected as consumers might opt to choose affordable
imported products freely entering the country.
• When a host country is facing massive unemployment, expatriates are
coming to work in the same host country, creating competition with the
citizens
ICT, Economics and Leadership
• Technology and economics nowadays are interrelated from international down to
local levels.
• One example of intertwining of the latter and the former is the encyclopaedia
industry
• Prior to the boom of internet, encyclopaedia was expensive and only few from upper middle
socio – economic class can afford.
• Years hence, information became easy to access via internet
• The demand in purchasing encyclopaedia declined which gave detrimental impact to the
aforementioned industry.
• Another example was the photography industry
• Prior to computer, phone and printer technology, camera films were expensive
and you have to limit your photo shots.
• Today, even amateur photographers can use camera built in phone and take shots as long as
there are enough memory space in the phone.
ICT, Economics and Leadership
• As popularly said that there are always two sides of the coin, some
economic fiasco might constructively affect others in some aspect.
• Outsourcing boomed and become boon to developing countries as
developed countries opt to “outsource” ICT based and ICT enabled services
for affordable yet quality service.
• Revenue of off-shore countries contribute to the economy
ICT, Economics and Leadership
• Opportunity have always has its own twin, i.e. “Competition”
• The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation (APEC) are examples of economic communities
where Philippines is a member.
• ASEAN and APEC bring both opportunities as well as competitors
• Skills of Filipinos should be uplifted and benchmarked
