Enrollment Requirements for Independence High School

9   ‑12   Grade students are eligible to enroll at Independence High School. Independence students attend a 
weekly meeting with a Supervising Teacher and attend sections of math, science, advisory and elective classes as 
assigned. 
▪ If a student has an IEP, then the IEP team must agree that independent study is appropriate.  The current school must 
coordinate an IEP meeting with the Content Specialist and our site to complete the required steps to be placed at 
Independence High School. 
▪ If a student is designated as an English Language Learner, then additional entrance requirements apply.

Steps to Enroll 
 
Students currently enrolled in a SFUSD public    Students NOT enrolled in a SFUSD public school 
school.  (charter, private, out of district, out of school)

Your current school counselor will fill out a  CWART  for  Your family will fill out an enrollment application with 
student with IEPs, 504 plans and for English Language  SFUSD at :

Your current school counselor will fill out a  Voluntary  (415) 241‑6085  
(Low Credit) Transfer to Alternative School paperwork   
for all other students.  In order to apply you will need the following documents:  
  a. Parent/Guardian’s Picture ID 
Voluntary Transfer Steps   b. Proof of Birth 
  Student & Family meets with Counselor or  c. Two proofs of Residency (utility bill, homeowner 
Administrator at current school.  or renter’s insurance, property tax, etc) dated 
  Counselor helps family complete the  within the last 45 days.

paperwork. Paperwork is emailed to Kelly    EPC will refer you to Pupil Services for an
