and its five steps are used in each activity in this guide as a means to help you gain the most from the learning experiences .
How Experiential Learning Works
Do
1. Experience – Begin with a concrete experience. This can be an individual or group activity that involves “doing something.”
Reflect.
2. Share – Next get the group or individual to talk about what they experienced whe n they were doing the activity. Share
reactions and observations. Talk freely.
Sharing questions:
 What did you do?
 What happened?
 How did you feel to…?
 What was the most difficult? Easiest?
3. Process – Discuss how questions are created by the activity. Processing questions (use information generated from sharing
questions):
 What problems or issues seemed to occur over and over?
 What similar experience(s) have you had?
Apply
1. Generalize – Find general trends or common lesson in the experience. Identify the important points that apply to the real
world. Generalizing questions:
 What did you learn about yourself through this activity?
 What did you learn about making decisions (or other life skills)?
 How do the major themes or ideas relate to real life and not just the activity?
 How did you go about making your decision?
2. Apply – Talk about how the new information can be applied to every-day life or sometime in the future.

 How will the issues raised by this activity be useful in the future?

Interactive Demonstration:
An interactive demonstration is a fun way to share what you have learned with others. The key is getting the audience involve d
in doing what they are doing, not just showing them. You can give an interactive demonstration at anywhere a lot of people ga ther.
You can choose almost any topic in the Foods curriculum.
Here are some questions to ask when choosing a topic:
 Is it something that can be done in three to five minutes?

 Is it something other people might like to learn about?
 Is there something hands-on for the audience to do?
 Can the supplies for the hands-on activity be used over and over again, or do they have to be replaced every time?
 Having to replace them adds to the cost.
A demonstration should last about three to five minutes, and you need to be able to do it over and over again with different
people. You should have a conversation with the people you are demonstrating to. The goal is to involve the audience. You can do this
by having audience members do what they are doing, play a game, answer questions, or do a hands-on activity.

Introduction to the Course:

Embroidery is a beautiful thread work on a variety of fabrics, which makes the fabric more attractive. It is an important and
useful method of creating designs on different fabrics, it lend three dimensional effects and can be done on fabrics, garment s, pattern
pieces and stitched garments. Due to wide diversity in our Country, we find a variety in embroidery stitches, colors and moti fs. The
craftsmanship from every Province has its own Excellency, attracting people from all parts of the world. Each Provinc e in the Country
is unique in itself and is reflected in the embroideries of that particular Province. Due to the invasion of modern technolog ical
advancements, traditional hand embroidery is gradually fading out, therefore there is a need to revive the tr adition and inculcate the art
in students. Moreover it is essential to train the students to popularize the traditional embroideries into industrial crafts in order to save
the reminiscent beauty of the past and everlasting art.
TRAINING AIMS & OBJECTIVES:

This course aims at imparting practical skills and theoretical knowledge of different machine and hand embroidery stitches to the
trainees as well as beadwork & introduce the principles of drawing and designing.
The major objectives of this course are:

1. Enable the Trainees to make creative designs in embroidery/ beadwork & prepare dresses by using these embroidery stitches/
beadwork.
2. Capable of identifying new opportunities in craft, textile art and fashion and design markets.
3. Produce trainees capable of designing embroidery by different stitches and beadwork.
4. Explain the Historical Evolution of Embroidery in Pakistan to Identify the Sources and Inspiration behind the Motifs and
Designs used in Embroidery.
5. To Learn the Art of Designing, Plan Color Schemes and Techniques of Enlarging and Reducing Designs to Fit.
6. Study of Various Threads, Needles and Tools used in Embroidery.
7. Master the Techniques of Making Different Decorative Embroidery Stitches.
8. To Master the Art of Making Different Pakistani Traditional Embroidery Stitches.
9. To become Familiar with Different Schemes & Programs Introduced by the Govt. for Artisans and People Working in Field of
Arts & Crafts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION OF TEACHERS:

 3-year D.D.M from Polytechnic Institute with 2–Years Teaching Experience.
OR
 F.A plus two year Dress Making Course with optional subject Machine and Hand Embroidery from Technical Training
Institutes plus 2-years experience of Machine Embroidery.
OR
 4-years experience of Machine Embroidery.
EMPLOYABILITY OF PASS OUTS:

The Pass-Outs of this Course may Work in the Following Sectors / Areas and Positions:
1. They can Work at Home for Domestic Purposes as well as Cottage Industry Setting up their own Boutiques and Embroidery
Units.
2. Pass Outs may Join any Garment Industry and with Further Training in Entrepreneurial Skills Work On Order for Designers of
Embroidery Motifs and Designs; As Embroideries in Boutiques and Export Houses or as Supervisors of Embroidery Units.
3. Pass-outs can become Entrepreneurs.

Each lesson is designed to take approximately 5 hours and is divided into two main sections: The first classroom section is
devoted to learning theory, as required. The second section consists of hands-on activities where participants have the opportunity to
practice what they learned.
Guideline to follow for Practical’s workshop is to allow: a. approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for the first part of the educational
component and supplemental activities; b. 2.5 to 3 hours for the hands-on portion; and c. 30 minutes for questions, clean up and
review.
The Curriculum combines the delivery of new information with practical opportunities to apply the knowledge.

Activity
Have each participant introduce themselves and relate their experiences with embroidery and why they are interested in taking
the class. Regardless of experience levels of participants, reassure everyone that this class is appropriate for all levels.
Instructional Procedures:
The students will participate in a Pre-assessment to determine their current knowledge about embroidery and beadwork by
interviewing at least five students in class concerning these subjects using the questions. Discuss the findings of the interviews as a
class.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
If students can embroider and carry out beadwork utilizing a variety of methods and design principles, they will be better
prepared to create marketable items.
Caution:
It is essential that you wear flat shoes with a closed toe – this is for your safety and comfort, we will be on our feet most of the
time.
