Cause and Effect

Learning Competency: Distinguishes between and among patterns of development in writing


across discipline though cause and effect relationship

Performance Standard: Critique a chosen sample of each pattern of development focusing on


information, selection, organization, and development

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. discuss cause and effect relationship
2. demonstrate a cause and effect relationship of a certain issue
3. make value judgment on certain issues
II. Subject Matter:

III. Presentation

*Motivation
Task 1. Unlock Me!
The students will be grouped into four.
The teacher will show some pictures and the students will be tasked to guess the
word/ phrase behind the picture. Each correct answer will be given a point.
*Activity
Task 2. We are related!

With the same grouping, the teacher will give show 8 pictures to the students. The
students will be tasked to pair a picture with another picture that they think are
related with each other. The students should have four pairs of pictures. Each
correct answer will be given a point.

*Analysis
Task 3. Sharing!

The students will be tasked to discuss to their respective groups the


following questions. They will then share to the class what they had discussed from their
groups.

1. How are the pictures connected with each other?

2. What is cause and effect relationship?

*Abstraction

Task 4. Getting involved!

The teacher will facilitate the students in gaining answers for the following
questions.

1. How can you identify cause? effect?

2. Based on the pictures showing the different problems in our community, what are its
effects to you as a person or a student?

The teacher will discuss cause and effect relationship to clarify and give essential
information for the students (lecturette)

*Application

Task 5. Showing what I got!

The students will be tasked to watch a short video clip. Students will be asked to
perform the different tasks assigned to them for one minute.

Using cause and effect:

Group 1- compose/rap or song related to the video

Group 2- make a short poem

Group 3- illustrate the theme (say something about what they have drawn)

Group 4- role play a scene

The students’ performance will be assessed using rubrics.
