LESSON PLAN FOR READING AND WRITING SKILLS

LEARNING COMPETENCY: Determines textual evidence to validate assertions and


counterclaims made about a text read (EN11/12RWS-IVac-10).

Objectives At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

1. Determine the textual evidence about a text being read;


2. Debate on an issue and give assertions;
3. Express the importance of presenting evidence to validate assertions
and counterclaims.

Group the class into five. Let them watch a video clip and present a role
play about the theme presented.

Activity: Task 2 DETECTIVE JUAN

Following the same groupings, ask them to complete the given template by
citing evidences.

Abstraction: Task 4 GOING DEEPER

Conduct a lecturette about determining textual evidence to validate


assertions and counterclaims. Then, the teacher will process the task 2.

Have students a video clip about determining textual evidence to validate


assertions and counterclaims.

Application: Task 5 BATTLE OF THE BRAINS

Students will be grouped into two, they perform a mock-up debate


(determine number of speakers or advance propositions given). Ask them to cite
textual evidence to validate assertions and counterclaims about this issue:
Should schools allow students use cellphone during school day?
