Name: Brassy Music Time

Aim:
To promote music within campus and create a relaxing atmosphere for busy students
and staff

Action plan:
We are planning to play some brass music in Street Show which is held by the Music
Society, or FM530 which is held by Chung Chi College. The scope of the project is to
promote music and create relaxing atmosphere within the campus. At the beginning of
March, we will be choosing suitable pieces and start with the performance
application. The performance will be in mid-late March. We can extend the project by
joining a few more times of performances if the timeframe were longer.

Justification:
Our proposed venture does promote different social values through music in terms of
quality of life. Nowadays students and staffs not just in CUHK, but also in other
educational facilities, are having a tensed and rushed life. As a result, they are
suffering in huge stresses and tasks in which some students even choose to commit
suicide. By this small project, we wish that we can provide a different kind of
relaxation for all of them and slower them down for a while in their tensed schedule.
It will be recognized as successful if we could attract a few numbers of audience to
listen our performance.

Uncompletion report (Updated on 8th April, 2018):

We so far have enrolled into the street show performance held by Music Society on
11th April, 2018 (Wednesday), during 15:15 to 15:30 pm. We started to have a few
rehearsals after the Easter holiday. Although we have not done our performance yet,
we do also encounter some difficulties. For example, we cannot hand in the
completion report on time as the original plan since the unexpected postpone of street
show. Moreover, it is hard to choose some suitable relax music for an outdoor show as
there are limited amount of euphonium duets arrangement scores available. Moreover,
we need to be aware of the acoustic of the performing area since outdoor performance
are the worst situation for sound projection and dynamics contrast. However, we do
have some alternative solutions as well, like for the problem of limited scores, we
have tried to find other arrangements for different brass duets. For the acoustic
problem, we tried to solve it with the choice of programme by choosing some tuneful
and simple pieces to play in this open area. We hope that we will have a successful
performance this Wednesday!
