I. MECHANICAL CONVEYORS
1, Belt Conveyors
1.1 Introduction
Belt conveyors have been utilized for decades as an efficient mean for continuous.
transportation of both bulk materials and unit loads. Due to its economic operition,
reliability and adaptability, in addition to the possibility to transport a wide range of
material lump sizes, moisture content, chemical characteristics and temperatures, belt
conveyors are extensively used in almost all industries.
In the next few paragraphs we shall give a brief on description, function and design of
belt conveyors.
1.2 Deseription of belt conveyor
Belt conveyor is composed of four main stations, namely the tail station, the discharge or
head station, the longitudinal frame and the take-up station.
