Argument essay – Alt-right

Introductory statement: Alt-right is a right wing political movement created and formed in
recent years that sparked a lot of controversy.

Thesis: So far alt-right has been completely unable to influence politics outside of their little
circle of supporters, and this probably won't change.

Announcing the arguments: One of the main successes of the alt-right is the election of
Trump, but so far Trump's most important policies are in direct conflict with the goals of the
alt-right, and even the election of Trump could be explained in other ways than alt-right
surge.

Argument 1: Trump didn't get a lot of new votes, his number of votes was roughly simillar to
past Republican candidates, Trump's victory is best explained through the failure of Hillary
Clinton.

Argument 2: Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Trump sells weapons to an Islamic
kingdom, most of his supporters support this, Trump's bombing of Syrian government
airbase, alt-right mainly supported the Syrian government before the bombing, some
elements express discontent, but most of them don't react.

Argument 3: So far the main successes of the alt-right has been it's online propaganda
campaign, but this won't give them influence on real life politics.
