System requirements

1. System requirements
ƒ ƒ Computer with a 1.86 GHz or faster processor
ƒ ƒ Windows XP Professional 32Bit SP3 and Windows XP Embedded SP3 operating system
ƒ ƒ 1GB of RAM or more
ƒ ƒ 50MB of available hard-disk space
ƒ ƒ DirectX 9 capable video card
ConVis is designed to run best on IPC1 and IPC2.
To run ConVis on other computers it should be individually tested.

2. Installation
1. Log in as a local administrator. A user without administrative privileges can run the program after it is
installed.
2. Browse to the directory of the installer file named ConVisSetup _ x.x.x..x.exe, and run the installer.
3. When the wizard opens click Next.
4. On the next page, read the License Agreement. If you accepted the terms by selecting I accept the
agreement, click Next.
5. On the Destination Location page you can select a folder were ConVis should be installed. It isn’t
recommended to change the suggested folder. Click Next.
6. On the Select Component page you can select which components should be installed. It is recommended
to select Full install such ConVis will run without problems. Click Next.
7. On the Select Start Menu Folder you can select where the setup should place program’s shortcuts. It is
recommended keeping the default settings. Click Next.
8. On the Select Additional Task page more tasks can be selected that are performed. Check Create an
entry in the auto run group if ConVis should run automatically when the computer has started. Check
Create a desktop icon and Create a Quick Launch icon if you want to start ConVis
manually. Click Next.
9. Verify your selected setup tasks and click Install.
10. All required components will be installed. If you have selected Haali Media Splitter, an installer
will popup, press I Agree, twice Next, Install and finally Close.
Some installations might require that you reboot your computer.

3. ConVis Settings
Common preferences can be set via an overlay menu when ConVis is running.
Detailed settings can be set via an Ini-File.

3.1. Overlay Menu


Use the following keys to enter the overlay menu and change values:
F11 Open Menu
Esc
Close Menu
Loop through menu points
Change menu value

3.2. Ini-File
To edit the Ini-file perform the following steps:
1. Close ConVis via Alt + F4
2. Open Windows Explorer and select the folder where you have installed ConVis,
default paths are C:\ConVis or D:\ConVis
3. Open the sub-folder bin and open ConVis.ini with notepad.
4. After changing settings, save the file and restart ConVis.

[Terminal]
Name Name of the device. Additionally can the placeholder {PCNAME} and
{USERNAME} be used.
NoStandby No-Standby if Init of the Terminal is received. 0=enable Standby, 1=disable
Standby
OutOfDateChecking Out-of-date checking of received files. 1=enabled, 0=disabled

[Network]
RECONNECT _ INTERVAL Time in seconds between tries to connect to the server, if no active
connection is established.
SERVER _ CONNECT 1 = connection to the sever are requested via direct connection
0 = connection to the server are requested via setting of
USE _ BROADCASTS
SERVER1 _ IP IP address of server (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=1 or
SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and USE _ BROADCASTS=0)
SERVER1 _ TCPPORT Server Port for TCP connection (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=1)
SERVER1 _ UDPPORT Server Port for UDP connection (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and
BROADCASTS=0)
SERVER2 _ IP IP address of second server (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=1 or
SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and USE _ BROADCASTS=0)
SERVER2 _ TCPPORT Server Port for TCP connection of second server
(used if SERVER _ CONNECT=1)
SERVER2 _ UDPPORT Server Port for UDP connection of second server(used if
SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and BROADCASTS=0)
USE _ BROADCASTS 1 = connection to the server are requested by sending UDP broadcasts to
UDP _ BCAST _ IP and UDP _ BCAST _ PORT
0 = connection to the server are requested by sending UDP packets
directly to SERVER1 _ IP, SERVER1 _ UDPPORT and SERVER2 _ IP,
SERVER2 _ UDPPORT.
UDP _ BCAST _ IP IP address for UPD broadcasts (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and
USE _ BROADCASTS=1)
UDP _ BCAST _ PORT Server Port for UDP broadcasts (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and USE _
BROADCASTS=1)
UDP _ LOCAL _ PORT Local Port for UDP broadcasts (used if SERVER _ CONNECT=0 and USE _
BROADCASTS=1)

[Startup]
Mode If ConVis is starting and couldn’t connect to the server a default page can be
loaded.1=enabled, 0=disabled
Page Name of the Startup Page*
Time Delay time till the Startup Page is loaded.

[Offline]
Mode If ConVis lost the connection to the server a default page can be loaded.1=enabled,
0=disabled
Page Name of the Offline Page*
Time Delay time till the Offline Page is loaded.

[KeepAlive]
Mode If no network packets have been received, ConVis will automatically close the connection.
1=enabled, 0=disabled
Time Time in seconds till keep alive is triggered.

[Reboot]
Mode Reboot if there was no valid connection. 1=enabled, 0=disabled
Time Time in second till reboot is triggered.

[Monitor]
Contrast Set contrast value of the monitor from 0 to 255.
Brightness Set brightness value of the monitor from 0 to 255.
DefaultCodepage Codepage-Number that will be used for rendering non-Unicode text, if no codepage
is given by the text itself.
1252 Latin (Western European languages): Best choice for FIDS Server
1250 Latin (Central European languages)
850 MS-DOS Latin 1
437 DOS CP437 (US): Best compatibility with older systems.

* Pages are located at [ConVisFolder]\Pages, default location of [ConVisFolder] is C:\ConVis or


D:\ConVis. The pages must be a binary .gt2 file.
