graduation.

ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW

ILearnIT Limited mission is to bridge the information divide between the rich and the

poor. Personal interaction with the head of New Abirem /Afosu Senior High School

proves beyond reasonable doubt that, the students are highly interested in learning how to

use the computer and searching for information online, but the problem lies on the means

of getting these facilities. The school we are focusing on is located in a low income

community. We are also committed in making sure students graduated from this High

School are computer literate.

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM

ILearnIT Limited is working to bring computer access, education and economic

opportunities to this high school students of New Abirem /Afosu Senior High School.
The program will benefit at least five hundred students from the school. The training for

the use of the computer and basic software will be managed by ILearnIT Limited. The

training will be done during school hours whiles the café will be opened after school.

ACCESS

To ensure that students have access to the café, the café will be operated between the

hours of 2:00pm and 8:00pm. In addition computer tutorials will be installed on all the

computers to promote self learning by the students.

Despite New Abirem / Afosu Senior High School being made the district model school, it

has not reaped the benefits of the technological revolution due to:

Limited access to computer technology and communication

At the moment, New Abirem /Afosu Senior High School have very limited number

computers available for their students. Information gathered from Link Computers (Gh)

Limited shows that out of the fifteen computer only four are in good condition. This is

limiting the ability of teacher to practically tech students. According to the Headmaster of

New Abirem Senior High School even the term school fees are at times difficult to be

paid by some parents how much more adding extra fee for the construction of a computer

lab and connecting it to the internet. Currently, the school have no internet access.
Low Income

Currently, the community is partial progressing with their monthly income. This has been

a result of the coming in of your company which has increase the income level of some

of the community members. But the problem of low income still hit majority of the

natives of the community who normally enrol their wards in the school in question.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

ILearnIT Limited seeks Gh¢ 28,470 to fund its construction of a computer laboratory

connected to the internet for New Abirem /Afosu High School in the Birim North district.

We believe that the earlier a person is introduced to technology the opportunities for

economic advancement will likewise increase.

To ensure the success of this program, we are taking an educational approach with these

elements:

Output Oriented

The computer programs to be taught will be measured with a project at the end of each

course. The project for example for Microsoft Access will be to develop a simple

database for their school or a presentation on how to teach Microsoft Word.

By working on these types of projects, students will learn practical applications of the

program taught.

Since we will be working during and after school hours, our classes will be more open to

exploring subjects outside the information technology which is a subject on its own. We
will however, have lesson plan for and clear objectives for each class as prescribed by

G.E.S.

We project to have fifty computers for the school. This will enable each student to sit by

one computer. This in turn will help the instructor assist each student. There will be one

instructor and an assistant at each class. This will enable the students to be more

comfortable.

We believe that the use of technology enhances critical thinking and other developmental

skills such as artistic capabilities. We believe the start of the program will even increase

the pass rate at the school. This can be possible since students will be taught how to

search for information on the internet.

PROJECT EVALUATION

While class content may vary, the program’s objectives will be measured by the

following:

Attendance Sheet

These will be compiles and submitted to the head on weekly basics.

Class Diaries

Instructors will be required to have class diaries which will be document the day’s lesson

plan, activities and other notables. These will be sent and reviewed by the school.
