Introduction

Background of the Study

Antique is well known according to its Historical Heritage, its Culture and Diversity and

Tourism Industry. Celebrating the Culture and Diversity through the Arts and Historical Heritage

is the way to showcase the hidden treasure of the Province of Antique. Thus, this world becomes

a single global economy people need not only an understanding of their own culture but also an

understanding of the cultures of the world. Therefore, the arts must be representative of the

larger community. In line with that the National Museum Organization pushes the Province of

Antique to have a Museum with regards to the Culture and the Arts and Historical Heritage of

the province. There are two possible municipalities in the province to have a Municipal Museum,

the Municipality of Sibalom and Bugasong.

Sibalom has century-old industries and structures, as well as boulders of gemstones and

treacherous mountain trails. Sibalom is also known to its Culture and Historical Heritage, like the

statue of Jose Rizal located at the center of Sibalom plaza wherein it is the first statue of our

national hero that exist in the province of Antique. Based on our research the National Museum

Organization chooses Municipality of Sibalom as one of municipality to have a

MunicipalMuseum in regarding the historical heritage of the municipality. Thus, this

organization oversees a number of national museums in the Philippines including ethnographic,

anthropological, archaeological and visual arts collections. Since 1998, the National Museum has

been the regulatory and enforcement agency of the Government of the Philippines in the

restoring and safeguarding of important cultural properties, sites, and reservations throughout the

Philippines.

The Museum shall provide insight into different cultures in the family of mankind, the

customs, celebration, emotion, love, peace and respect of any of the different cultures of our

planet.

Museums play a big role in reminding us of how we grow as a people. Through arts,

installations, and precious artifacts, they awaken our desire to know more about our rich culture,

our history, and our environment, which make up our national identity. Here they are enhancing

our understanding and acceptance of different cultures.
