Introduction
All the organization need employee to complete their various types of work. Here the
skilled employee can work more than the unskilled employee. To hire skilled
employee is more important task for an organization. Skilled employee can achieve
organization’s goal easily, that unskilled employee can’t. to maintain a skilled
employee is expensive but unskilled employee increase the labour cost. For flexibility
of the employee organization need to train the unskilled employee, it will increase
cost but it also reduces labour cost. This assignment will cover all related item of the
personal and professional development.

Task 1: Be able to take responsibility for own personal and
professional development
1.1 Different approaches to self-managed learning and evaluate
three of the approaches
Self-managed learning is a life time process in which an individual can maintain his
or her own learning. It can be influenced through environment, personality and the
way of learning or capability of capturing the things.

 Seminars and conferences
 Learning from others: Mentoring and coaching
 Using internet

1. Interview: it is the most practical process to learn. Here one party questioned
another party answered. Through this process candidate can learn by mistake and
correct them in next interview. (Clark, 1994)

2. Learning through research: it is an easy method to learn by thyself. Through


research anything, anyone can learn by it. It helps know about the unknown things
that learner do not know. (Clark, 1994)

3. Seminars and conferences: it is one of the traditional way to learn. In seminars


and conferences, there have fixed topic to discuss and bring expertise to discuss
about the topic. And the seminars and conferences are attended by the people who
are unknown with the topic of it. Through seminars and conferences one can learn
many unknown thing and can get suggestion from the expertise of the seminars and
conferences. (Sweitzer & King, 2014)

4. Coaching: it is a formal session of learning for a self-managed learner. It has a


short term topic to discuss and fixed class. Through this fixed class learner try to
develop his or her skill about the topic (Alsop, 2013). Mentoring also like coaching
but its aim to teach anything in long term. It is the important term for an organization
to teach their employee in long term and it is effective for the organization. (Throop
& Castellucci, 2011)

5. Using internet: in this modern age, it is the easy way to learn thyself. Through
internet anyone can learn anything for anytime. In this technological age, anyone can
learn from the internet. It can be done with lower cost. (Throop & Castellucci, 2011)

1.2 Different ways to encourage lifelong learning in personal and


professional contexts

Lifelong learning is the life time process to learn in which an individual can learn
many things from his life time experience. This is basically a mind-set process that
help to enrich themselves through life time. It also helps to increase the personal and
professional development. (DeCenzo & Silhanek, 2002)

Self-directed learning approach is a process in which people feel comfort to learn


by himself. Through this method, people can be able to know about their knowledge
and know the necessity of learning. In this process there have third party who assist
the individual to learn. They help the learner to know about their strength and
weakness and overcome their weakness through various methods. Learner can
know his standards of knowledge that he can achieve through learning. (Burns, 2012)

CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is a process in which the learner


need to identify the path from where he wants to gain the knowledge and various
types of skills both formal and informal way in the workplace. Employer of local
states agency who has no role in regard of this. Knowledge and experience help him
to learn about his profession and performance. (Sangster, 2000)

Further education is needed for all the assistant of local state agency who need to
admit in college or university for the better performance and further education. It
helps to add more skill and help to be more professional in his workplace. It helps to
gain skills, education and achievement in the workplace of an individual. (Wilkins,
1997)

Apprenticeship is also a traditional way of learning in which employee work


voluntarily in the organization in probation period under supervision. Through this,
employee firstly learn about the work and gain knowledge as well as the increase the
skills. It is the most effective way to learn for an assistant of local state agency. Here
the employee get opportunity to learn from the skilled and expert employee. An

apprenticeship is the written contract between employee and employer. (Dowson,
2015)

1.3 Evaluate the benefits of self-managed learning to the individual


and organization
Self-managed learning is the process in which an individual can know by himself.
Here it shows the culture, norms and beliefs of the learner. Most of the organization
focuses on the training and development of the employee. Some of the organization
arrange the self-managed learning way for the employees. An employee need to
take risk, find problems, provide solution, remove hazard and take potential strategy
for the organization. One employee can do this with the help of self-managed
learning. Employee can move in complex situation with little opportunity because of
self-managed learning. (Kirton, 2012)

Many of the organization chose self-managed learning for reducing the cost of the
training of the employees. Self-managed learning helps the employees develop their
skill with analytics. For this reason, they can manage task with low capacity of the
manpower. This knowledge helps them to take solve critical situation and take
various types of strategies. (Throop & Castellucci, 2011)

Leadership development increase the performance of the leaders in the
organizations. For conducting a business there need the efficient leader for the
organization who will increase the development of the business as well as better

performance in the market. Leadership development is needed in the business to run
the business effectively and increase flexibility of the business. (Wilkins, 1997)

Professional development defines the efficient performance of the profession. It


describes that a person is capable of or not with his teams. There have some kinds
of the professional attribute like, discipline, time-ness, patience, integrity, motivator
and honest which maintain the skills of the employees in the business. (Bender,
2004)

Career development is a thing in which an employee can develop his skills and
change his attribute. It helps the employees to improve his career through changing
the job, or rotate the job. It can also through the organization, like transfer,
promotion. The employee need to set his mind where he wants to go and after 5 or
10 years where he wants look him. Career development set this for sake of the
employee. (Arnold, 2002)

Technical skill development refers the development of the employee in regards of


the technology. In this modern age, every employee need to be more advance and
need to know the use of technology and increase the technical skill. It helps to create
more smooth and flexible relationship with customers that will increase the business
in the market. (Burns, 2012)

Customer service development is defined that take some methods to capture the
customer and develop the customers service. Customers are the king for the
business who can help to increase the business or demolish the business. So every
business need to develop the customer’s services. (DeCenzo & Silhanek, 2002)

3.3 Considering the aims and objectives you covered in your PDP,
critically reflect on own learning against original aims and
objectives set in the developmental plan
I am considering the aims and objectives that I covered in PDP, which critically
reflect on own learning against original aims and objectives set in the development
plan. The improvement from the actual aims and objectives are discussed below:

1. Collect information about the business and about their market that will help
them to expand their business in various area. Nowadays modern
technologies handle the customer service, instant production and so on. By
gathering information, I can help the business to maintain good relation
between the customers and suppliers. (Kirton, 2012)

2. It was very difficult to increase the share in the market. In this days it is very
easy to gain the market and increase the market share. We can increase
market share by expanding the business and increasing the sales volume. We
can increase sales volume through capturing the customer with innovative
way. For capturing the customer there need to improve promotional activities.
(Wilkins, 1997)
3. As an assistant of local state agency or any other employee, I need to
increase the customer for expanding the business. There need to gather data
about the customer and made a database about them. Then maintain a good
relationship with them for capturing them to our business. (Throop &
Castellucci, 2011)
4. Every business need to increase their brand recognition and increase their
brand value for better performance of the business. For increasing the brand
recognition and brand value employees need to be loyal to their stakeholders.

For attracting the stakeholders, organization ness to maintain social
responsibilities and duties. (Sweitzer & King, 2014)
5. Now there need to fulfil the interest of the stockholders who invest in the
business for gaining the profit from the business. To fulfil their interest
organization, need to maintain good relation with them and know about their

the business internationally, the organization need to expand their wings in
new cities in the world and analyse the global market and collect the

4.1 Work based solutions on various situational problems based on
the scenario given
As an employee or students of the college, everyone can face problem in their doing
task. They need to solve it by themselves. There has the work based solution on
various problems are discussed below:

 Force Field analysis: the force field analysis refers that whatever is
happening in the workplace of the organization there should be positive
resulting for the forcing of two opposing group. There can be several
problems in the organization, they need to solve the problem timely otherwise
it can be huge problem in later. For example, of force field analysis, in an
organization complete their task with efficient and inefficient employees and
the output of the organization comes from negative and positive effort. That’s
why by finding the negative or opposite force can solve the many problem of
the organization and bring a better output. (Wilkins, 1997)

 Fishbone and Basic approach: this method is applying in any situation
when anyone is in huge or in serious problem. The fishbone and basic
approach has another name, that is “cause and effect” tool. This tools helps
the organization to identify the problem and describe them in a diagram form
that will give the way of solution of the problem. There have two part of
fishbone and basic approach that describe the problem, one is describe the
problem and find out the causes of the problem and second one analyze the
effect of the problem that is shown in the diagram. (Bender, 2004)

These two method will be helpful for the organization. They will find out the problem
and conflict from the organization that can with employees or managers. Then with
the good teams and with helpful tools the organization will be able to solve the
problem and conflict of the organization.

4.3 Evaluate effective time management strategies that can help
you manage your time effectively.
All of the business want success in their business within the related market. For
implementing any business task, the management of the organization need to take
proper action in time. Time management is a very important tools for an
organization. For efficiency of the business, the organization need to maintain the
time management. Effective time management strategies are describing below:

 Prioritizing workloads: there should be proper workload for the appropriate


person. First of all, there should be measure the working loads for all the
people and evaluate them according to the capabilities employees. Then the
work should be differentiating according to the priorities of the employees.
Then part the job with the deadline and give to the employees to solve it in
time. (DeCenzo & Silhanek, 2002)
 Setting work objectives: Mangers of all the business, if they fail in the
business, it is just for less use of the time management practice in the
organization. The managers need to set specific goals and objectives and set
a deadline for the employees to accomplish the goals and objectives of the
organization. Within the deadline employees need to complete the task that

can bring success in the business and business become fruitful. From time to
time the manager needs to check the project that he gives to the employee to
complete, if any change need, should take proper action in time. If any
organization can complete the task time to time, they will be able to solve their
problem in time. (Bender, 2004)
 Pareto- 80-20: 20/80 rules refers in all the situation of the organization there
20% positive factors influence the situation to achieve 80% of the output of
the organization. And 80% negative factor causes of the 20% output of the
organization. For example, maximum output comes from the 20% customers
and 80% wealth of the people owned by the 20% of the people. There have
the 20% reason that encourage me to get maximum output. (DeCenzo &
Silhanek, 2002)
 Pickle Jar Theory: it is a management approach in which the work is design
as the categories. It is describing as a jar where all the rock, sand and pebble
are placed in a one jar.

We need to complete all the task in time bound. For self-managed learning this
significant way is very much important.

Conclusion
Every employee need to improve both their personal and professional development
to work efficiently in the organization. In this dynamic world, for be prepared for the
work or job everyone should develop their personal and professional development.
Organization needs skilled and talented employee to run their business, they also
looking for skilled and efficient employee that’s why an employee need to prepare
him according to organization’s needs. This assignment covers the personal
development, audit, solving problem and so on. All the organization need employee
to complete their various types of work. Here the skilled employee can work more
than the unskilled employee. To hire skilled employee is more important task for an
organization. Skilled employee can achieve organization’s goal easily, that unskilled
employee can’t. to maintain a skilled employee is expensive but unskilled employee
