Rhythm
A. Sound and silence
Relating images with sound and silence within a rhythmic pattern
B. Steady Beat
Maintaining a steady beats when chanting, walking, tapping, clapping and playing
musical instruments
C. Simple rhythmic patters
1. Clapping, tapping, chanting, walking, and playing musical instruments in
response to sound with the correct rhythm in different meters
2. Clapping the written stick notation on the board representing the sound heard
D. Ostinato
1. Playing simple ostinato patterns with classroom instruments and other sound
sources
2. Creating simple ostinato patterns in measures of 2s, 3s, and 4s through body
movements
3. Creating ostinato patterns in different meters using combination of different sound
sources

I. Melody
A. Pitch
1. Identifying the pitch of a tone as high-higher, moderately high-higher,
moderately low-lower, low-lower melodic lines
2. Matching the correct pitch of tones with the voice or with an instrument
B. Melodic Patterns and Contour
1. Relating movements with level of pitch
2. Matching the voice with the pitches of a melody
3. Singing entire simple songs with accurate pitch; Favorite Children’s Songs; “Do
– Re – Mi”, “Manang Biday” , “Paruparong Bukid”, “Atin Cu Pung Singsing”

II. Form
A. Musical Lines
1. Identifying the beginning, middle, and ending of a song.\
2. Identifying musical lines as similar, same, different through movements and
geometric shapes or objects
B. Repeats in Music
1. Recognizing repetitions within a song
2. Singing repetitions of musical lines independently
3. Playing repetitions of musical lines renders a song confidently, giving appropriate
emphasis on the beginning and on the ending

I. Timber
A. Voice Production Techniques
Recognizing differences in sound quality coming from variety of sound sources
B. Variation in Sound Quality
Responding to differences in sound quality with appropriate movement
C. Introduction to Musical Instruments
1. Recognizing musical instrument through sound
2. Using the voice and other sources of sound to produce a variety of timbres

II. Dynamics
Volume of Sound in Music
1. Interpreting the dynamics of a song through body movements; small movement –
soft; big movement – loud
2. Distinguishing “loud,” “medium,” and “soft” in music
3. Relating dynamics to the movements of animals; elephant walking – loud; mice
scurrying – soft
4. Using terms “loud,” “medium,” and “soft” (louder, softer) to identify changes and
variations in volume
5. Responding to conducting gestures of the teacher for “loud” and “soft”; Teacher’s
palm down means “soft” and palm up means “loud.” ;Hands moving farther from
each other mean sound becomes louder
6. Using varied dynamics to enhance poetry, chants, drama, songs and musical
stories

I. Tempo
A. Speed in Music
1. Imitating animal movements according to speed
2. Relating movement to changes and variations in tempo
3. Distinguishing among fast, moderate, and slow in music
4. Using the terms: fast, moderate, and slow, (faster, slower etc.) to identify tempo
changes and variations
B. Conducting and Tempo
1. Singing songs with proper tempo following basic conducting gestures
2. Responding with movement to tempo changes; to a variety of tempo in recorded
music
3. Singing songs with designated tempo E.g. Lullaby – slow, Joyful songs – fast

II. Texture
A. Single Melodic Line or Simultaneous Occurrence of Multiple Melodic Lines
1. Demonstrating the concept of texture by singing “two-part rounds” “Are You
Sleeping, Brother John?”, “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”
2. Distinguishing between single musical line and multiple musical lines which
occur simultaneously
B. Distinction between thinness and thickness in Music
Distinguishing between thinness and thickness of musical sound
