1.0 INTRODUCTION

Proper commissioning of new Circuit Breaker Fail (CBF) Protection Relay (50/62) is
an important issue to prove that new (CBF) Protection Relay (50/62) has been
properly shipped and correctly installed. This work instruction highlights the necessary
steps related to proper commissioning of new (CBF) Protection Relay (50/62) in HV
and EHV substations.

All (CBF) Protection Relays (50/62) must be tested in the factory before delivery to
the site and must be tested by commissioning contractor at site after installation for
processing to begin in the on-site Commissioning and testing phase. Commissioning
tests at site is done to prove that:

 No (CBF) Protection Relay (50/62 was subjected to any damage during

transportation.
 Each (CBF) Protection Relay (50/62) has been installed correctly.
 Each (CBF) Protection Relay (50/62) is working in coordination with other
equipment, as specified.
 All (CBF) Protection Relays (50/62) are safe for putting into service.

This Work Instruction has reference to Procedure PR-NG-6460-002 “Project
