THE TRUE PANEL B777-300

Ver. FS2000-1
January 2000 - By Jorge Alsina
Dedicated to Katy Pluta, my nice Internet friend

THE PANEL

Following the release of the Boeing 737 Improved Panel series for FS2000 (Captain and
First Officer versions), I present you with this B777 panel, which is an improvement over
the FS2000 default B777 panel. I have named it as “True Panel” to differentiate it from my
737 Improved Panels and to reflex its realistic “true” layout. It’s more about an art and
layout work than a new set of gauges.

This panel includes two new gauges, a toggle switch for a panel window (shift-4) and a
dedicated gauge for the overhead panel.

The panel repeats the stock ND/EICAS gauge. Upon entering in the cockpit you should
switch the rightmost display to EICAS.

In the FOS panel the following controls can be used:

Shift-2 will call the radio stack

Shift-3 will toggle the right display with the throttle/flaps/spoilers “controls” stand
Shift-4 toggles the overhead panel
Shift-5 toggles the Moving Map (GPS).

All of these four sub-screens can be called by clicking with your mouse on four push
buttons located over the glare screen at the left side of the autopilot.

In the controls stand you may adjust the pitch, roll and yaw trimming directly clicking over
the settings screens (there are no knobs for the trimming).

While the overhead panel is not realistic, it includes all available stock gauges for lights,
fuel management, anti-ice and engine starters. It includes also the “fake” stock gauges for
the logo and wing lights. The landing lights are triplicate to show a more realistic layout
(there are three in the real cockpit). The non-realistic Auto-Start switch is also included.

As always with my panels, I have foreseen for the most realistic layout of the panel
instruments, with photo-realistic lighting and shadowing, similar to the FS2000 default
panels.

The panel has been designed in a FS2000 Pro version with the Microsoft patch installed.

THE AIRCRAFT
There is no aircraft distributed with this file. You must create your own copy of the B777-
300.

INSTALLATION

The panel is easy to install:

Make a copy of the FS2000 B777 aircraft container and delete all files inside its panel
folder. You may name the folder as I do, “B777_300.true”.

Unzip the B777 True-panel file with the "Use folder names" box checked, pointing to
your new aircraft folder and this will install a new panel folder, with all panel files. Move
the two gauge files to the FS2000/Gauges folder.

I am not including in this file the forward-side-rear views for the B777 cockpit. You will
require to copy them from the main B777_300 default folder. If you don’t install the views
you will see just scenery.

The following files (they are named as in the FS2000 default panel) will be required in the
new panel folder:

FORWARD_LEFT.BMP
FORWARD_RIGHT.BMP
REAR_LEFT.BMP
REAR_RIGHT.BMP
Left.bmp
Right.bmp
Up.bmp
Rear.bmp

If you wish to use another aircraft with the new True Panel, create a text file in your
aircraft panel folder (with your Notepad), named panel.cfg and write the following
instructions:

[FLTSIM]
alias=B777_300.true\panel

Please note that “B777_300.true” is the name I use for the aircraft container. Change it
accordingly to the name you use that could be something like “B777_Sky_Airways”.
