IVS 2019

IVS-VALVEcampus Knowledge Sharing Platform

Submission deadline: Tuesday, 29th January 2019

VALVECAMPUS FOR IVS
VALVEcampus is an Italian association of manufacturers of industrial valves
and components used in the Oil&Gas and Power Industries.
Established in 2014 by five manufacturing companies, it has the aim to
promote and share the technical culture of industrial valve technologies among
all relevant stakeholders, highlighting the excellence and international
presence of the Italian leading industries.

After the great success of the second edition of IVS - Industrial Valve
Summit, the international exhibition and conference on valve and flow control
technologies, big news are expected for the next edition, which will be held on
22nd and 23rd May 2019.

VALVEcampus is ready to work together with Ente Fiera Promoberg and to

support the 3rd edition of IVS.
VALVEcampus will be responsible for the conference program of IVS 2019
and will continue to offer training sessions to all stakeholders and will introduce
the innovative IVS - VALVEcampus Knowledge Sharing Platform.

VALVEcampus gives the opportunity to share knowledge, experience and

ideas among leading industry professionals and organizations.
The main purpose of this platform is to extend the boundaries of the IVS
conference contributions and let IVS become a permanent and growing
knowledge tool: “A continuous knowledge sharing platform for a
successful future”.

VALVEcampus has launched another important initiative by signing a contract

with U.S. based SAI Industrial LLC. The first VALVEcampus International
Valve Survey dedicated to the Oil & Gas and Power Industries will be carried
out to properly identify the main success or critical factors in the valve
purchasing process, as well as the role of the Italian valve industry and its
main players in this process.
The intermediate survey results have been presented during a preliminary
introduction event to IVS 2019, held on November 8th 2018 in Bergamo at
the Kilometro Rosso Innovation district.

The final survey results will be presented at a specific round table session
during IVS 2019, with the contribution of key experts active in the Oil & Gas
and Power Industries.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Industrial Valve Summit 2019 is the main event of the year regarding the
valve industry business, strategies and technologies.

Industrial Valve Summit insightful, practical and thought-provoking

conferences will cover strategic and technical topics and are conceived by
leading valve industry practitioners with the aim of presenting only new,
relevant and valuable contents.

The IVS - VALVEcampus Advisory Board invites you to submit an

abstract and share your knowledge, experience and ideas with your
valve industry peers.

The complete list of suggested conference topics and themes is enclosed in this
call for papers.

Abstracts focusing on emerging opportunities in the industry as well as on the

integration of flow control solutions are of particular interest.

As contributor to this prestigious event, you will gain a heightening

professional profile and recognition from colleagues all over the world as you
share your knowledge, ideas and industry insights.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to represent your company and
network with leading organizations and high-level influencers and decision
makers.

T h e IVS - VALVEcampus Advisory Board, composed of key experts, will

examine all submitted papers. The best and most innovative papers will be
formally presented to all IVS 2019 visitors and participants during specific
events which will take place on 22nd - 23rd May.

VALVEcampus is thus introducing two innovative instruments. The first is a

knowledge sharing platform, which will allow all interested valve professionals
to have a direct and free access to a wide range of technical and scientific
publications.
The second is the opportunity – for the six best papers that will be selected- to
give live presentations during IVS 2019.

THEMES AND TOPICS
THEME1: ADVANCES IN SAFE VALVE DESIGN, MATERIALS,
MANUFACTURING AND COATINGS
This theme is relevant to new perspectives and developments in valve design,
materials, castings and forgings, manufacturing processes and surface
protection technologies, emphasizing the scientific principles and
improvements in corrosion protection and assessment of coating systems.

THEME 2: VALVE ACTUATION AND CONTROL

This theme is relevant to the current state-of-the-art, which thanks to the
increasing adoption of digital technologies and Industry 4.0 approach, is
additionally improving the benefits of “smart” techniques, field devices and
communication networks in process plant management, also in support of
predictive maintenance.

THEME 3: FUGITIVE EMISSIONS AND VALVE SEALING TECHNOLOGIES

Designers and plant managers have excellent reasons to minimize fugitive
emissions in their facilities, by reducing the amount of process fluid released
into the atmosphere and surrounding environment. Submitted papers should
cover today’s monitoring technologies, stem sealing techniques, packing
designs and other advances in optimizing valve sealing performance, with
reference to applicable national codes and international standards for test and
inspection.

THEME 4: STANDARDS, CODES, LEGISLATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Papers are requested to address how today’s valve standards continue to be
dynamic documents that reflect sound engineering practice, regulation
compliance, changes in market demands and advances in technology and
manufacturing procedures.

THEME 5: VALVES’ LCC, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS

Valves’ life cycle costing is an important performance, which considers all
aspects and costs incurring during the lifetime of product, work or service. The
purchase price and the ancillary costs (delivery, installation, insurance, etc.)
represent the total cost of ownership, which includes the operating costs,
purchase of spares, repairs and maintenance, as well as the end-of-life costs,
for the de-commissioning or final disposal phases. Authors are invited to
present papers covering these subjects, which are often neglected during
engineering and manufacturers’ selection procedures.

THEME 6: END USERS’ EXPERIENCE AND LOCAL CONTENT

This theme will offer the opportunity to exchange recent case-studies and
experiences and facilitate networking. Local content, appropriate service and
after market activities are some of the aspects suggested and authors are
invited to present papers to cover these topics.

THE NEW COMMITMENT
A Continuous Knowledge Sharing Platform for a Successful Future

Every market has its own peculiarities in order to meet the different
requirements of Customers and Suppliers. These depend primarily on factors
such as effective technological content, capacity to properly qualify values
among clients, willingness of End Users to evaluate and accept qualities of
products and services.

Digitalization is a typical example. Processes covered by Industry 4.0 are

affecting not only the manufacturing industry but also extraction, production,
treatment and distribution of Oil & Gas, particularly in the downstream sector,
where production data gathering - thanks to the increased use of sensors
included in valves and actuators – guarantees control optimization and tangible
production savings.

This trend, already existing in the control valve sector, will shortly represent a
new opportunity for designers and manufacturers of other valves: Big Data
Management will offer them a concrete and innovative way to improve their
products’ offer.
Additionally, as markets are constantly and rapidly evolving, all stakeholders
will face new challenges in their field of responsibility, affecting their entire
working force. We expect an increasing need for continuous professional
trainings and courses to allow the adoption of new tools, induced by emerging
progress and technological accelerations.

With a good degree of foresight, the European Union introduced in 2006 the
“Life-long Learning Program” to endorse and sustain the education and
development of new generations, which will form a basis for their professional
growth and success.

IVS and the VALVEcampus community are on the same track: they present
and offer a specific Valve Industry Life-long Learning Program to meet
the changes strongly needed by the Oil & Gas and Power Industry markets.
