THE INFLUENCE OF FAMILY CAREGIVER SUPPORT BY USING

FOOD DIABETIC 3D MAGNET MINIATURE ON THE OBEDIENCE
DIET CYCLE OF ELDERLY PATIENT WITH DIABETES MELLITUS,
(DM) IN TAMBAK WEDI COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER,
SURABAYA

Elderly patient with DM will run a diet program when the blood sugar
levels increase, meanwhile, when the blood sugar levels is normal and the patient
feeling better, she or he doesn't need to run a diet program anymore. Family
caregiver by using food diabetic 3D magnet miniature is given to support patient
with DM to run a DM diet program. The purpose of this study is analyzing the
influence of family caregiver support by using food diabetic 3D magnet miniature
on the obedience diet cycle of elderly patient with DM

The research method of this study is Pre-eksperimental with on grup pre-

post test design. There are 36 samples of this study that using simply random
sampling from 40 respondents on population of this study. The independent
variable is family caregiver support by using food diabetic 3D magnet miniature,
while the dependent variable is the obedience diet cycle of elderly patient with
DM. The data of this study is taken by using questionnaire MMAS-8. The data
analysis of this study is Wilcoxon Rank Test with accurate level alpha < 0,05.

The result of this study before and after giving an intervention is the
elderly patient with DM that has a low obedience level 58,3% turns to 0%,
medium obedience 41,7% turns to 61,1%, and high obedience 0% turns to 39,9%.
The statistic result of Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test shows the significant value of
the obedience diet cycle p = 0,000.

The family caregiver support by using food diabetic 3D magnet miniature

can be used as a solution of family support on running a diet program for elderly
patient with DM, therefore the diet program will be increased.
