The context
This year, the support to the campaign by the European Commission has been further
strengthened and formally stated as part of the Digital Education Action Plan. With the purpose
to increase digital skills of European citizens, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital
Economy and Society and Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture,
Youth and Sport have embraced the EU Code Week 2018 and have encouraged all schools to
join the initiative. The European Commission wishes the campaign to involve 50% of all schools
by 2020.
GOPA Com. and European Schoolnet, together with the Code Week Ambassadors are working
towards achieving this goal. National educational coordinators (Edu Coordinators) and a
community of volunteer teachers (Leading Teachers) are being activated to support the
campaign.
However, such an ambitious target can only be achieved with the contribution of all
education actors, and for this reason, we are inviting partners to join the cause.
To involve more schools in the campaign and offer meaningful engagement opportunities to
teachers and students, the Code Week Team has been:
Become a Partner
EU Code Week invites partners to support the campaign and become active members of the
Code Week community this year.
To take part in this year’s EU Code Week, interested partners should follow these steps.
Step 1. Register
Design one or more activities to engage your network schools in EU Code Week 2018;
Assign to your campaign a “tag” that each participating school can quote when registering
to the Code Week map. This “tag” will allow you to monitor the impact of the camping;
Decide whether your campaign data (e.g. number of schools, students involved etc.),
collected with the “tag” system, can be shared publicly or only with you.
Launch a campaign to engage schools through your network and beyond. Make sure schools:
In addition, you are welcome to suggest resources that are of added value to participants; initiate
competitions or prizes; give us suggestions on how to involve more schools and students.
