Yes. Hinduism died long back.

As humans are dying, as other species of the flora and fauna are dying, Hinduism too is
dying. Everything that is born, dies. But there are offspring to continue the species and
as long as the reproduction is successful.

Reproduction of species may take a while, but reproduction of thoughts is like plague.
The religions on planet Earth are mostly by thought. There are rituals to follow,
ceremonies to perform, but without thought they are incomplete. Thoughts may include:

1. Devotion
2. Fear
3. Love
4. Responsibilities
5. Fun
6. Belongingness
7. Patriotism
8. Jealousy
9. Superiority
10. Spiritualism
All these are thoughts attached, not necessarily in this order, to various religions in
varied intensities.

Saying that Hinduism died long back is a moot comment and yes it is true
Hinduism was born out of cultures of educated and visionary leaderships. The Hindu
was a man of wisdom and not any inflated member of a cult group. So can Hinduism be
termed as a religion? In the Indian constitution Hinduism is a way of life and I presume
that it always had been. Today, after several thousand years when Hinduism has an
offspring (Buddhism) so successful and also by putting itself out as a culture so vivid
and colourful the impact of Hinduism can be seen in the all the human religions. If
Hinduism seems a bit rip-roaring as compared to other cultures or religions, it may be
due to the following:

1. For a Hindu the world is a maya. Thus, everyone seems to be flabbergasted

when they see the marvellous ceremonies like, kumbh ka mela or the durga
pooja.
2. A Hindu is less perturbed by the death but more by the obnoxious approach
taken towards it.
3. A Hindu believes in the conservation of energy and matter. Thus, the
cremations.
4. Hindu mythology is full of tales that have nothing to do with spirituality. The
intent behind, is to create a space in life and if there is an element of
spirituality, shut your mouth and do what is needed.
5. If a Hindu realises he is God, one congratulates him.
6. Hindu sees God in everything or nothing.
7. A Hindu lives in surprise, obviously, without intent.

So, is Hinduism dead?

Yes, it dies every moment and is born the very next.
But is Hinduism extinct?
No. It will take the whole human physiology to recast itself to eliminate the teachings of
Hinduism.

As Gravity is to life, Hinduism is to cultures.

You certainly do not believe gravity is dead, but yes it pulsates, dying and living
simultaneously (Simple wave theory in physics).
