Accelerator Pedal or Lever Position Sensor 1 Circuit - Voltage Below Normal or Shorted to
Low Source
Fault Code: 132 Throttle Lever Position Sensor 1 Reduced power/speed. Limp home power
PID(P), SID(S): P091 Circuit - Voltage Below Normal or only.
SPN: 91 Shorted to Low Source. Low
FMI: 4/4 voltage detected at throttle lever
Lamp: N/A position number 1 signal circuit.
SRT: N/A
Circuit Description:
The throttle lever position sensor is a Hall effect sensor attached to the throttle lever. The throttle lever position sensor
varies the signal voltage to the engine control module (ECM) as the throttle lever is depressed and released. Low
signal voltage is received by the ECM when the throttle lever is at 0 percent. A high signal voltage is received by the
ECM when the throttle lever is at 100 percent. The throttle lever position circuit contains a throttle lever position 5 volt
supply, throttle lever position return, and throttle lever position signal.
When the ECM senses a signal voltage lower than the normal operating range of the sensor, this fault code is set.
Component Location:
The throttle lever position sensor is mounted to the throttle lever assembly. Refer to the OEM service manual.

Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active:
• For engines equipped with SmartCraft™, the SmartCraft™ will display a "Throttle Sensor Fault" warning on the
system tachometer and VesselView™ if equipped, immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails. For engines not
equipped with SmartCraft™, refer to the OEM service manual.
Shop Talk:
If troubleshooting an intermittent throttle lever problem: The throttle lever position sensor signal voltage can be
monitored with INSITE™ electronic service tool, while flexing the harness to locate the intermittent connection.
Intermittent connections will show up as abrupt changes in signal voltage displayed by INSITE™ electronic service
tool.
Possible causes of this fault include:
• Throttle lever position signal shorted to engine ground or RETURN wires in the OEM harness or sensor
• Damaged throttle lever position sensor
• Open circuit in the throttle lever SIGNAL, SUPPLY, or RETURN wire in the harness or connectors.
NOTE: The three wires in the throttle lever position sensor circuit must be twisted together.
