PETITION

Petitioners who are bona fide students of the University of Nueva

Caceres – School of Law currently enrolled for the 2nd Semester of
Academic Year 2018-2019 manifest the following:

1. That the Academic Calendar for 2019-2020 be shifted from June

2019 to March 2012 to August 2019 to May 2020 where the 1 st semester
will be from August 2019 to December 2019 and the 2nd semester will be
from January 2020 to May 2020;

2. That a unified and congruent application of the present and

subsequent changes in the legal education curriculum following the
migration of all law degrees to Juris Doctor would be best with a
coinciding academic calendar for all law schools across the country;

3. That the said shift would be beneficial to the students by making

the Christmas holiday break, stretching from the 3rd week of December
to the 2nd week of January as the semestral break;

 4. That the academic hiatus from the Christmas holiday break
compromise the quality of learning by cutting through the intellectual
momentum in a particular subject matter;

5. That given the utmost relevance of a balanced life with

productivity , the students should be able to enjoy the Christmas season
and spend quality time with their loved ones instead of utilizing the same
to study for the Midterm Examinations usually scheduled when classes
resume on the 1st week of January;

6. That the said shift is necessary to facilitate academic integrations

and interactions with other law schools in the country and abroad;

7. That since majority of the law schools in the country already

shifted their academic calendars, institutions offering opportunities for
learning experiences set such activities during which the majority can
participate;

8. That since our academic calendar is incongruent with the

majority, UNC Law Students are disenfranchised with obstacles deterring
them from participating in such activities intended to enrich their
learning experience such as but not limited to internships, seminars,
conferences, symposium;

9. That participating in such activities is integral to the holistic

development of UNC Law Students;

PRAYER

WHEREFORE, premises considered, it is most respectfully prayed

that the Academic Year 2019-2020 of UNC School of Law be shifted to
August 2019 to May 2020.
