Double Tube Testing

1. Loading Double Tube Samples

1. Centrifuge whole blood sample and separate the plasma and red cells
into two separate tubes with the same barcode ID.

2. Load sample tubes into the carousel in special order:


A. Load the red cell sample tube first followed by the plasma tube.
B. Load additional double sample tubes consecutively in the carousel.
C. Load the sample barcode(s) facing out of each window.
D. Different tube sizes can be loaded in the carousel.

2. Double Tube Samples – Programming Test


1. Under the Test tab of the Wadiana C module, Select Dual Tube icon in
the Separate Tubes option prior to sample Identification.

2. Click Identify.
3. Samples tab is updated. Notice the color changes in
the sample carousel. Red to represent red blood cell
tube and yellow representing plasma tube.
4. Sheet tab is updated with sample ID
4. Order the test(s)
5. Load reagents and cards
6. Execute the run

3. Loading Double and Single Tubes in the same


batch

1. Load, Identify and Order tests on the double sample tubes as described
earlier
2. Change selection back to Single Tube in the Separate Tubes option
3. Leave two spaces after the last identified tube and place the single
sample tube with barcode facing out
4. Identify the sample (sample camera will automatically identify the newly
loaded sample)
5. Order tests on the single sample tube
6. Load reagents and gel cards needed for all tests ordered
7. Execute run

1. Loading Crossmatch Sample Tubes

1. Load sample tubes into the carousel in special order:


A. Load the Recipient sample first then follow by Donor sample(s).*
B. Leave an empty space in the carousel before loading additional set(s)
of Recipient-Donor(s).
C. Load the sample barcode(s) facing out of each window.
D. Different tube sizes can be loaded in the carousel.

*The Wadiana® Analyzer will interpret the first tube in each series as the
recipient and subsequent tubes as donors.

1. Select crossmatch test from the Test drop down menu. Follow instructions
to load

1. Click on the Sheet tab.
2. Designate recipient sample(s) on the worksheet by clicking in the white field(s) under the crossmatch test.
The white field(s) become pink to indicate “Recipient”.
3. Designate donor(s) by right-clicking in the white fields and then select recipient # from drop-down menu.

Emergency (STAT) Testing

Emergency Open
At any time during testing, the operator can open the door to retrieve samples, add
STAT samples for testing, add resources such cards, reagents and apply further
tests.

1. Click on the Stop button.

2. Click on Emergency open button

Note: If the Wadiana is busy, the following screen displays

Option 1
1. Click on Open Door icon on the Wadiana C
main window
2. Leave two spaces from the last identified
sample and load the STAT sample with barcode
facing out
3. Click Identify
4. Order Test. The newly loaded sample will be
considered as a STAT
5. The Sheet tab will show S! for all tests ordered
on the STAT specimen
6. Load cards and reagents and execute run

Note: The emergency open is considered a new


load. Therefore reagents and cards must be added
at the beginning of the corresponding batch

Option 2
1. Click on Open Door icon on the Wadiana C main window
2. Load the STAT sample in any location of the carousel with barcode facing out and note
the location
3. On the Samples tab, click on the carousel position where is sample is loaded. Color
changes from white to grey
4. On the Test tab, click Identify
4. Order Test. The newly loaded sample will be considered as a STAT
5. The Sheet tab will show S! for all tests ordered on the STAT specimen
6. Load cards and reagents and execute run

Note: The emergency open is considered a new load. Therefore reagents and cards must
be added at the beginning of the corresponding batch

1. Batches 0006 and 0007 were loaded as part


of a routine run.
2. Batch 0006 is in the middle of pipetting,

EMERGENCY OPEN performed and samples


loaded as STAT (new batches 0008 and 0009)

4. Since Batch 006 has already started, but Batch


0007 has not yet started, the “Emergency” feature
will take effect before start of Batch 0007

5. Batch 0008 containing STAT sample S! has


started pipetting before processing of batch 0007

6. Similarly, batch 0009 will be processed next


since it also has a STAT sample S!
7. Finally, batch 0007 will be processed last

1. Click on STOP Emergency Open
2. On the Samples tab, check the color of the sample on the carousel. If
grey, sample no longer needed for pipetting
3. On the Sheet tab, test ordered is cleared (back to white)

4. On the Samples tab, click on the grey sample icon on the carousel
5. Select Yes to confirm removal

6. Remove the sample from inside the analyzer

Converting Routine sample to STAT


Assigning STAT status to Samples

1. Identify samples
2. Select Sheet option and order tests
3. Right-click on the cell corresponding to the
assigned samples whose execution needs to
be brought forward. A pop-up opens.
4. Select the STAT option in the pop-up menu.
The selected cell shows an S!

Note: If this is a crossmatch test, select the


recipient first.
