1. Device description
EPS64 is designed for failure monitoring in high power distribution board. On its inputs it supervises failure status of
selected parts, shows the information on the display and acts on failure events by mechanical outputs which
disconnect controlled parts.
2. Output relays
Device has 8 output relays which are used for different and specified purposes:
• Relay 1 – acts at HARD failure and disconnects high voltage circuits
• Relay 2 – acts at SOFT failure and HARD failure and turns the failure alarm on. When contact changes from on to
off or at any failure event the relay 2 is disconnected for defined time. This time is indicated at bottom righ display
corner. After this time elapses, relay 2 turns back to initial position in case that there is no another failure event.
• Relay 3 – 1st channel, disconnects the vacuum contactor
• Relay 4 – 2nd channel, disconnects the vacuum contactor
• Relay 5 – 3rd channel, disconnects the vacuum contactor
• Relay 6 – 4th channel, disconnects the vacuum contactor
• Relay 7 – 5th channel, disconnects the vacuum contactor
• Relay 8 – 6th channel, disconnects the vacuum contactor

5. Device operation
Device is operated cursor buttons ▲ and ▼ which is normally used for moving in the menu and changing the
parameter settings. Parameters setting is activated by pressing the button SET as well as this buttons is used for
confirmation of newly set values.
Button TEST is used in monitoring mode for user confirmation about error noticing. In the configuration mode it
represents button cancel and closes menu.
During standard operation the display back-light turns off after 1 minute without any action on any button. When there
is any action the display back-light turns on again.
Display back-light is used also for EPS64 warming. When the ambient temperature falls under 0°C, back-light turns
on automatically.
7. Configuration mode
Configuration mode is used for EPS64 parameters setting. Keep the button SET for at least 5 seconds to enter the
configuration mode. After that the request for password entering appears on the display. If there was not entered
correct password the configuration parameters can be seen but without any possible change of them.
Main menu structure:
Parameter Description Factory setting Setting range
Configure EPS64 ► ►
Transmission ratio ► ►
Configure inputs ► ►
Change password Password for access to configuration mode 1234 0001 ... 9999
Delay relay Delay for repeated connection of output relay 10 min 3 ... 20 min
Input delay Minimum duration time for input signal presence 5s 0,1 ... 25 s
Tripping time Duration of under-voltage presence for event detection 0,2 0,2 ... 1 s
It is important to have in mind that the value which is set, is ratio itself. It means that, for example, if
primary nominal current of current transformer is 6000 V and secondary is 100 V then set parameter
value is 60.
Errors properties ► ►
Inputs selection ► ►
Once the icon is chosen it appears at the input group number. On the screen will appear also configurable
parameters of chosen failure. For moving among the configurable parameters use cursor buttons. When the
configuration is finished save it by pressing the button SET on the <save>.
INPUT TYPE – available in options normally open (N_OPEN) and normally close (N_CLOSE)
STATE TYPE – available in options CONTACT or ERROR. While it is set as a CONTACT there is no more settings.
When it is defined as an ERROR, there the type of failure has to be defined (SOFT, HARD).
If the SOFT failure was selected the it is possible set also the time for SOFT failure becoming to be a HARD error.
Option <NONE> says that the SOFT error newer becomes a HARD one. Otherwise it is possible adjust the time for
error type change from 10 s till 40 minutes.
Measured voltage Fundamental voltage value for voltage level control 230 V 100 ... 690 V
After changing the password save it carefully. If the password is forgotten EPS64 can be unblocked only by producer
properties.
7.8. Reset
By confirmation of parameters reset the EPS64 erase all user settings to the factory settings. Factory setting values
are written in the parameter table.
8. Fast commissioning
For fast start of EPS64 operation there are 8 steps for shortest commissioning.
1. Press the button SET for at least 5 second to enter the configuration menu and set the password 1234.
2. Set the number of controlled outputs channels, delay of relay output reconnection and minimum event duration on
inputs
3. Set the transformer ratios for voltage and current transformers
4. Define alarm events and their parameters
5. For safety reasons change the configuration menu password and keep it at safe place
6. Finish configuration mode and test system by pressing the button TEST
7. Disconnect the EPS64
Not it is ready for being connected to the system.
