2.- Observe carefully students reaction to the material and activities and register any
aspect that can improve teaching quality.
3.- This guide intends to be a tool for the instructor, and it indicates the use of didactic
resources and an instrument of the teaching learning process, maintaining an order of
events and guaranteeing that all concepts are taught. However, the role of the instructor
is very important in this process and he is free to use other resources and enrich the
process with his experience and imagination.

Keep in mind that our man objective is the human person. That is why, neither the
instructor, nor the CEA should avoid efforts, giving all their professionalism, knowledge

profession, that can only be achieved through a warm human relationship and an
excellent behavior and attitude towards the institution and one´s own life. Therefore, this
guide and the didactic resources will be permanently evaluated, so there will be an
everyday improvement on quality, which is the one that can make changes in our
institution and improve our life quality through the potentialization of the human being in

GENERALITIES
The communications procedures will be according to Vol. II of Annex 10 – Aeronautical
Telecommunications, pilots, ATC personnel and the other ground personnel should know
the radiotelephonique procedures written in it.
When circumstances are different pilots, ATS personnel and ground personnel, should use
the standarized phraseology. This phraseology should be clear and understable, so any
confusion should be avoid.
All the communications will use the identification call (aircraft, ground vehicle, ATC and
others), when it will be necessary. Conditional sentences will be avoid as: behind landing
aircraft or taking off aircraft, specially for manouvres affecting activity in the runway,
except when the specific aircraft or the vehicle is in sight of the specific controller and
pilot. The conditional clearance should always be transmitted following order should be
used:
1. Identification
2. Condition
3. The clearance
4. Short repetition of the condition
Example:
Note. It makes the aircraft receiving the conditional clearance (Avianca 006 identifies the
aircraft that it is refered in the conditional clearance (B-767 in short final)
Intructions like runway in use, QNH, SSR code, levels, heading and speed, and when it
would be required by the ATS authority, transition levels should be always reab back by the
pilot, for Example:

(Normally the ATC authorization will be given before the aircraft enters to the manoubring
area. If for any circumstance the authorization was not given at time, this will be given

There are other ways to express according to different circumstances that might occur.
These situations can be consulted in Doc 4444/ATM/501 part XII phraseology. At the time
of practice in the laboratory, we will use the document mention before due to the amount of
situation that appear in the document, the expression push back suggested by ICAO has
being used more often because is considered to be more appropriate.

An authorization where a SID is NOT published, the next turn will be specified, or
any other manoeuvre necessary which be compatible with the operation the aircraft
will follow.

flight level 330, squawk A2213, turn left after take off, maintain VMC until 12000
feet.

For the departing aircraft, the following standard phraseology will be used:

(1) Normally will be used when the aerodrome has parallel or cross runways
(Identification)...Wind 135º 10 knots cleared for take off, report airborne (2)
(2) The APP is used when this ATC dependence is located in a different place from the control tower:

(identification)...After departure, turn right , wind 150º 10 knots, cleared for take-off (3)
(Identification)...After departure, turn right/left , climb in VMC until route intercept, wind 160º 10 knots,
cleared for take off. (4)
(4) It is used for aircrafts with FPL IFR, when it does not exist published standard departure
procedures

behind the landing aircraft” or “ after the departure aircraft” will not be used.

Once the traffic notifies a position geographic point joining to the AIR TRAFFIC ZONE (ATZ), the
following standard phraseology will be used:
FIRST CALL:
- (identification) ... join downwind, runway ... wind ... temperature (optional)... QNH ... traffic ....report
downwind.
OTHER ALTERNATIVES:
- (identification) ... join downwind abeam tower, runway ... wind ... temperature ... QNH ... traffic ...report
downwind.
- (identification) ... proceed direct base, runway ... wind ... temperature ... QNH ... Number one to land, report
on base.
- (identification) ... make straight-in approach, runway ... wind ... temperature ... QNH ... Number one to land,
report on final.
IN THE CIRCUIT:
Ctl: -(aircraft identification) ... number one, report on base ( or report on final).
Tower: (aircraft identification) ... number two, follow cessna on base, report on base.
Tower: (aircraft identification) ... number three, follow caravelle next to base, report on base.
Tower: (aircraft identification) ... cross over station ( the field), join downwind , runway ... wind ...
temperature (optional)...QNH... report downwind.
Note: Usually the number to land will be expedited when join downwind, with exception of other
circumstance, like, direct base proceed, make direct approach, in which the number to land will be
given, in that moment.

Report downwind.
Note: usually in four position (base) of the traffic circuit, the cleared to land is given.
