I. Department Details
1. Name of the Department
2. Name of the HOD
3. Courses Offered
4. Number of students in each course. Yearwise details
5. Specify the number of boys and girls in each course
6. Names of the Faculty with their academic qualifications
7. Dean, Professors, Associate Professors and Asst. professors
8. Mention the Staff Student ratio & Work load for each teacher including the
HOD

II. Conduct of classes and coverage of topics (units) .


1. 1. Do you think that there is equitable distribution of the work load? If not
specify reasons.

Yes. The courses are categorized in to 1) Tough 2) Medium & 3) Easy based
on its complexity and work load is equally distributed among faculty
members making sure that each faculty is allocated with and a Tough, a
medium & an easy paper.

2. 3. How do you adjust the work when the staff are absent?

Staff get prior permission in the event of availing leave. While doing so they
make proper class adjustments and enter it in the class adjustment register.
However under unavoidable circumstances the leave is intimated to the HOD
stating the class adjustments made and entry in the class adjustment register
is made after retuning back to duty.

4. Do you have mentors to guide and advise the students? Give details.
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I
learn." - Benjamin Franklin.
With this having said the department of Civil Engineering has developed a
well-structured Mentor-Mentee system. The mentor is one resort for a student
where one can seek knowledge, guidance and support at all times. The
mentor bridges the communication gap between parents and management by
regularly updating the parents about the student’s progress and updates from
the college.
Regular sessions with the mentees are conducted

 Focuses on the need of the student.


 Establishes consistent communication with parent & helps closely monitor
the growth of student.
 Our mentors have demonstrated that they are responsible, hard-working,
outgoing, and friendly and have a strong passion for being of service to
others.
For every 20 students a mentor is allotted. The role of the mentor is to keep a
close watch on the academic development of students. Periodic interaction
with the students

4. Do the mentors keep records pertaining to their mentoring such as attendance


details, series tests and university exam results. etc.

5. Do you have class teachers for each class? If so mention briefly the nature of

their duties as class teacher


6. How do the teaching staff cover topics?
7. Do you follow the conventional method only or other methods such as digital
way of explaining topics?

8. Are the students given assignments regularly? Does the department keep
records?

9. Do the faculty write down their notes of lesson (lesson Plan) for each topic?
10. Do the faculty get the approval of the HOD for these lesson plans?
11. a) Do you keep the rank list of students and the list of students with arrears

overall pass percentage?
b) Give details of the pass percentage in each subject in the April / May 2018

III. Attendance and Internal Tests.


12. What steps do you normally take to improve the performance of academically
weak students?

13. a) What steps do you take in the case of students who have shortage of
attendance and those who fall short of minimum attendance? Do you
keep
records?

b) Do you monitor the work and check the records.


14. What are the roles of the mentors and HODs in such cases?
15. Do you contact the parents / guardians in shortage of attendance cases and
apprise them of the serious consequences? Do you maintain records?

16. Are you conducting internal tests (series tests) regularly?


17. How do you monitor the conduct of these tests?
18. What action do you take in the case of the students not taking the tests?
19. What remedial action is taken in the case of students failing in series tests?
20. Do you experience any difficulty in conducting these tests? Do you have any
suggestion to improve the efficacy of the series tests.

21. What do you think about the question Bank System? Do you have any
suggestion to improve the Question Bank System?

22. Do the Heads of Departments check the questions and keys before including
them in the Question Bank?

23. a) Do the HODs have with them the Soft and Hard copy of the Questions
Bank

b) Are the guidelines issued by the COE regarding the Question Bank
followed by the department staff?
IV. Recogition of meritorious students
24. Are you identifying and encouraging students who excel in all fronts and
those who ecell in academics?

25. What sort of encouragement is given to these meritorious students?


26. Do you take steps to enable these students to participate in symposia /
seminars organized by other institutions? Ajin
