Dr. Pablo O. Torre Sr. Memorial Hospital, or well-known as Riverside Medical Center, commit
ourselves to deliver quality hospital services - to heal and restore to health those who have
entrusted their care to us. We shall nurture a team of dedicated, well-trained and sensitive
health professionals who adhere to the highest standards of competence and ethics - Bacolod
City.

History stated that this, hospital started its operation in the year 1954, as 8-bed clinic at the
founders residence on 23rd. A year later, the 8-beds were increased to 25-beds, thus after three
years their bed capacity became 70 beds. The hospital was originally located in the current
premises of the Riverside College.

During their year of expansion, Dr. Torre invited four Carmelite missionaries (Mother Superior
Margaret Theresa, Sister Regina Javier, Sister Ma. Isabelle Gregorio and Sister Cristina Dean)
to assist him in the running of hospital. Through the years, they served as an epitome of service
to the staff and management through their sincere and selfless dedication to the growth of the
hospital.

Years later the clinic was founded, the management opened the school of midwifery on June 11,
1961, and on June 23, 1963, they opened a college of nursing. Until later they opened different
courses.

Today, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital has gone a long way from its humble beginnings.
Now considered one of the most modern tertiary hospitals in the region, it is one of the prime
movers in the health care industry in Western Visayas and stands as a living memento of its
founder's undying dream and ambition – to serve the health needs of the community.
