DISCIPLINE PLAN

Grade/Subject
Miss Willett/Room Number
You are expected to follow school-wide and classroom rules each day. Failure to do so will result in
consequences as laid out by the steps in this plan.
STEP 1: Private Signal
Your first warning will be a non-verbal signal such as a hand signal, a look, or simply
me moving closer to your desk indicating that you need to stop what you are doing
and get back to work.

STEP 2: Verbal Warning

STEP 3: Quick Conference

Depending on the severity of the misbehavior or the activity the class is working on,
this conference may occur at the student’s desk or a more private location like the
hallway or my desk.

STEP 4: Reflection Card/ Lunch Detention

If the conference does not help, you will fill out a “Reflection Card” (see pg. 3 ) and
turn it in to the teacher when completed.

If the student is asked to fill out a Reflection Card he/she may be assigned one day of lunch
detention (either that day or the following).

A Reflection Card may also result in a phone call home and/or the Reflection Card being sent
home to caregivers.

STEP 5: After-School Detention

An after-school detention will be given to those who more than one lunch detention
for repeated offenses.

STEP 6: Office Referral

Administrative involvement.

1
Restitution
Caregiver(s), student, and teacher will devise a consequence that repairs damage (if
applicable) or relates directly to the misbehavior. These plans are developed on an individual,
situational basis, and involve a caregiver/student/teacher conference.

Discipline plans are not meant to scare you. They are meant to help you recognize negative behaviors
and reflect on how to make better choices. Discipline is necessary when behaviors are harming yourself
and/ or those around you.

While these steps are intended to work in a hierarchy, extenuating circumstances may deviate from the
order of the steps. Caregivers will be notified as soon as their child’s behavior demonstrates any cause
for concern. Students will thoroughly know and understand the rules for this classroom and will be held
accountable for them. With these expectations and consequences in place and with students, caregivers,
teachers, and administrators working together as a team, I feel confident that an orderly learning
environment will result.
