ABSTRACT

“ VASTHU” is the derivative of VASATI which means residential

accommodation. Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sky are five principle elements
essential for happy living. Judicious balancing of these five elements keep the
residents in good cheer and is responsible for their happiness.Planning and
arrangement of rooms, location of doors, windows and ventilators in an appropriate
manner to gain the maximum advantage of ventilation, illumination, solar
insolation, privacy, safety, security and happiness without causing any
inconvenience to neighbours and society is the fundamental concept of Vasthu.

Vasthu Purusha Mandala is a fascinating story from ancient Indian texts

depicting the birth of Vastu Purusha, the chaos he caused and how he was
overpowered by collective efforts of different Gods.Vasthu shastra works on three
principles of design that cover the entire premise.They are Bhogadyam, Sukha
Darsham, Ramya.The concept of Vasthu purusha and importance of Vasthu in
designing of civil engineering structures are discussed in detail. Vasthu cannot
change your destiny but it can make “sweet things sweeter and bitter things less
bitter”.

The cars are so accurately balanced that even deflation in any one of the
tyres can cause a serious accident. Similarly when a building is constructed
without the rules of Vaasthu science, various calamities, diseases, accidents, can
occur.This is the eternal rule of the nature and it has no place for logic, doubt or
debate.
