Pierce Township Fire & EMS units were inital dispatched and staged fo a possible leg laceration. The incident was found te
be a police standoff wth an active shooter. Units were staged for over 2 hours when crews were activated in an EMS
capacity for 2 downed lew enforcement Officers. Additonal medic units were request for staging forthe active shooter
incident. Commend received an alert thatthe suspect has made statements alluding to burning the bulding down, 0149 A
high hazard structure fire complement was dispatched and placed in staging. The standoff lasted for hours. Approx. 0623 the
‘Search and Rescue Team units breached a wall and deployed distraction devices. Flames were noticied shortly after in
Apartment 360-D. Crews had to remain in staging because suspect was stil notin custody. Flames grew to a point whore the
fire began to spread up the exterior walll of the structure. The suspect was extracted and fire crew were given the go ahead to
initiate fire suppression operations. Initial attack was delivered off of Central Joint FD engine 11 with a 2 1/2 and deck gun.
Hamilton County (Anderson Twp.) engine 6 initaled search and rescue operations and reported 4 people were removed from
Apt. 358-E. Union Twp. engine 252 crew completed search and rescue operations on the A sector. Flames were observed
breaking through the roof of the 8 sector. New Richmond qunit 36 tower was raised and initiated fire attack. Strategy was
pulled back to defensive mode, After some fire control was accomplished crews were sent into the C sector to stop fre
Progression. Aeial operations ceased and handine attacks resumed. After fre control was achioved crews were pulled for
evidence preservation. Non crime scene areas overhauled, Units demobilized. PierceTwp. engine 44 remained on scene to
