Richmond, Elliot. “Pollution of Streams by Garbage and Trash.” Water Encyclopedia, 2009,

www.waterencyclopedia.com/Oc-Po/Pollution-of-Streams-by-Garbage-and-Trash.html.

In this article Elliot explains the kind of trash that ends up in the lakes and ponds. The

evidence that Elliot uses in the articles are studies and scientific facts to back up the points he

was talking about. Elliot explains that the reason trash and debris get into lakes and ponds so

easy is because the surface waters are always in low lying areas. He also talks about how the

trash that gets into the lakes and ponds could sometimes be used by the wildlife as shelter. Even

though some animals can use the trash as shelter most of the time the trash kills or harms them.

This article can enhance my project because it shows me why the trash is getting into the

waterways and, it shows the dangers that the trash can do when in the water. The ideas that it

sparks for my final project are to get in contact with the local fish and game warden and ask

them what I should do if I see an animal that hurt from human debris. Almost all of the

information that is in this article is usable because it all relates to my project.

Microplastic Debris in a Floodplain Lake." Environmental Monitoring and Assessment,

The academic journal mainly talks about how plastic pollution affects the water in lakes
and ponds. The type of evidence the author is providing is scientific facts and, is trying to teach

the reader about the effects of plastic pollution. This article is about how in the US plastic

pollution in lakes and ponds is a very big problem. Most sources never talk about the local lakes

and ponds and just want to talk about the ocean, but this is just as big of a problem. The article

explains how the pollution starts in lakes and ponds and makes its way to the ocean, therefore we

should give more attention to the start of the problem. This is valuable toward my learning

stretch because it is not only raising awareness for the problem but also giving facts about how

bad it really is. The ideals that it sparks toward my final project is to go to beach clean up days

and encourage the people to come help at the lakes and ponds too. The information that is usable

is when the author explains the dangers of what the debris can do and how more people should

go to lakes and ponds.

California Mountains Foundation, 2017,

This article gives me a local organization that is doing a lake clean up and they do these

once or twice a year. The type of evidence that the author uses is she is trying to get people to go

do a clean up. She also uses evidence on saying how dirty the lake is. This article is about a clean

up day that they are putting on for big bear lake. The article talks about the dangers of all the

pollution in the lake and why people should come to the clean up day. This is valuable toward

my learning stretch because they are trying to get to the same goal as me. The ideals that it

sparks toward my final project is that I could team up with this organization to hopefully get

them to promote cleaning lakes and ponds other than Big Bear. All of this information is usable

because it will give me ideas to do and it is raising awareness towards what I am trying to get at.
Engler, Sarah. “10 Ways to Reduce Plastic Pollution.” NRDC, 17 Jan. 2019,

www.nrdc.org/stories/10-ways-reduce-plastic-pollution.

The central question of this article is how we can prevent trash from getting into the lakes

and ponds. The evidence that is in used in this article is facts and surveys of what people should

do to keep the lakes and ponds clean. It gives evidence on how other people have made efforts to

prevent the debris from getting in the water. This article gives a list of how to keep plastic out of

the waste so it won’t get to the water. It also talks about the dangers and how the trash will

negatively affect the wildlife. This is valuable toward my learning stretch because it is giving me

information on another way to limit the plastic. The ideas that it that this article sparks for my

final project is that I could make posters to throw away your trash and to limit the plastic you use

everyday. All of this information is beneficial and usable for my project.

Moore, CJ. “Movement of Aquatic Trash.” EPA, Environmental Protection Agency, 27 Sept.

2017, www.epa.gov/trash-free-waters/movement-aquatic-trash

The central question of this article is how does trash end up in lakes and ponds. The type

of evidence that the author uses is scientific studies and facts . the author gives examples and

percentages of trash that get into waterways. This article is explaining how the main reason trash

is getting into the waterways is because of human waste. The waste usually starts out in lakes

ponds and rivers then will eventually get into the oceans. This resource is valuable toward my

learning stretch because it explains how once the trash gets in the water it could move very far

and get into places that are very far away. This can enhance my project because it makes me

more knowledgeable about the movement of trash. The ideas that spark toward my final project

is that I I could go to a river that goes into the ocean and clean up there before it gets into the

ocean.
