Dear Friend,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are
grateful for the Lord moving in and among His people here at church. His ways are
perfect. They are past finding out. The Scripture says, "For My thoughts are not
your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord" (Isaiah 55:8).
Sometimes we look at circumstances and feel defeated because we cannot see a
good end. But when we put our faith and trust in the Lord, there is no telling what
He will do! He can do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or even think,
because He is God.
There was an incident that took place in the Old Testament that illustrates
this. There was a famine in the land because the enemy cut off the supplies to Israel
to starve them into submission. It was working, as people became desperate for
food. It was going on for some time and it was a hopeless situation. But there was a
man in Israel, Elisha the prophet, who had a close relationship with the Lord. You
can have a close relationship with the Lord, too, no matter how hopeless your
circumstances seem! He prayed and stayed in communication with the Lord
continually. And one day he made a bold prediction: "Tomorrow about this time
shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel (some believe that to be about
$2.00), and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria" (II
Kings 7:1). Prior to this the cost of food was impossible to pay, even for the
wealthy. So this saying of the man of God seemed ridiculous. Faith does seem
ridiculous sometimes, to be honest. It goes against common wisdom. But God had
a plan that was out of the ordinary. No one knew at that moment what the Lord was
planning, to turn the people back to Him.
There were four lepers, just outside the city gates. They were not allowed
inside the city, lest their disease infected others and they all would die. So there
they sat begging. But they reasoned among themselves, and said, "Why sit we here
until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the
city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore
come, let us fall unto the host of the Syrians (Israel's enemy at that time): if they
save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die." Who would
have known that these thoughts were put there by God's Spirit? The plan was set in
motion! The Bible says they rose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the
Syrians. When they finally got to the camp, no one was there! "For the Lord had
made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses,
even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of
Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the
Egyptians, to come upon us." They ran away and left everything behind! So the
lepers ate what they could, but decided to share it with the king. One of the most
important things to remember when God blesses us is to share it with others! If I
am blessed I want others blessed, too! The greatest joy in life is to help others to be
as blessed as you. Jesus said, "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye
also to them likewise" (Luke 6:31). We may not be able to help everyone, but we
can help someone! Peace for all the world starts in the heart of one person.
These four lepers shared their blessings with the city that shut them out! It
really does not matter what others think or say. What does matter is how you think,
what you say, and how you act towards others. The rest of the story in II Kings tells
us that there were so many items, food, horses, etc., that the famine was ended over
night! When you speak what God speaks, when you believe what God's Word says,
when you share your blessings with others, your problems aren't as big and they are
not as strong and overwhelming as you think. You shall reap exactly what you sow.
You will get what you give. The areas you may seem to come short in, God can
make up for it. But concentrate on serving the Lord, obeying His Word, sharing
your blessings with others, being everything the Lord designed you to be. And if
you do, you shall never be barren and unfruitful, and you will be blessed and
content with the things the Lord has given you. Salvation will come your way.
Answers to prayer shall come your way. Your life will be complete and you will
have the peace that passes all understanding because God will always make a way
for you! You will find He is not a God afar off, but He is very close to you.
I invite you to our church. Our schedule of services is Sunday at 10 am and 7
pm, and Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Come expecting the Lord to move on your
situation. Come with faith, believing God to meet you there. And I am sure He
will! May God bless you!!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
