MGB 301 / MGI 301 Research Participation Requirement

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE WRITTEN REPORT OPTION

The Brief Research Summary Option – 1.0 credit per paper. Reading original, peer-reviewed research papers
will enhance your understanding of the scientific process and how the concepts you learn in your classes are
conceived and tested. You can earn 1.0 research credit for each summary you write, providing that your paper meets
the following criteria. This exercise is expected to take approximately one hour of your time and the length should
be about one page of double-spaced 12-point Times type.

Failure to comply with the following 6 criteria will result in NO credit for your paper.

1. Select an article. On a topic related to MGB 301 or MGI 301. Use your MGB 301 or MGI
301 textbooks, assigned readings, or class lectures to choose an appropriate
topic. For example, personality and job-related performance would be an
acceptable choice; personality and heart disease would NOT be an
appropriate choice.

PsychInfo or Business Source Complete databases). General newspapers or
magazines cannot be used. See below for a list of acceptable sources. If you
are unsure about a source you must check with your instructor or email

the study was conducted (sample characteristics, surveys used, etc.), and
will provide statistics that indicate if the hypotheses are supported.
