3. INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

3.1. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

An instrument calibration is required every time an important part of the photometer is replaced by a new
one. It can be the Flow Cell, the Lamp, the Optical Sensor Board, and an optical filter.

3.2. FILTERS CALIBRATION

This command can be found in the “Setup” menu /
Instrument Setup / Filters tab.

From this page, it is possible to perform calibration of

the filters setting. To perform calibration, press the “start
calibration” button, position a container with distilled
water under the sipper tube and press the aspiration
button. Wait the aspiration end. Repeat the aspiration
other 2 times. Once aspiration is complete, the
calibration of the various filters will begin: this operation
requires a few minutes.

If filter calibration is successful, a green circle will appear

next to each filter. When all the filters are calibrated, it is
possible to exit the page by pressing the EXIT button.

If the calibration procedure is not successful, a red circle

will appear next to the filter which cannot be calibrated.

NOTE: even if the filter is not successfully calibrated, it is nevertheless possible to work with the
instrument and use the other filters. In the event that certain filters are not calibrated, it is advisable to
perform flushing of the cuvette with distilled water and suitable detergents, and leave distilled water inside
the cuvette for at least an hour. Afterwards, repeat the filter calibration procedure.

instrument software and the Drivers Board firmware can be updated at any time if needed.

The upgrade procedure require only a standard USB drive key and the encoded update file. The USB key
must be formatted with a FAT file system. The instrument update file must be the only one present in the
USB key.

There are 2 different update procedure available. Automatic and Manual methods. The manual method
can be used if the instrument system do not recognize the USB key during the startup.

4.2. AUTOMATIC UPDATE PROCEDURE

Put the USB key with the update file in one of the USB connectors available in the rear panel. Turn on the
instrument. The instrument system will recognize the USB key in the back and an internal instrument
software will start the update procedure automatically. Based on the update file requirements, the
software, the firmware or both will be updated.

4.3. MANUAL UPDATE PROCEDURE

If, for any reason, the automatic update procedure fail or the USB key is not recognized during the
instrument system startup, remove the USB key, then put it back again in one of the USB connectors
available in the rear panel, wait at least 5-10 seconds then run the manual software update command
form the instrument software menu.

This command can be found in the “Setup” menu /
