SAN RAFAEL – Their cheers echoed through the streets, drawing interest from passersby.
Hundreds of voters, dressed in green and white Meg 2010 T-shirts, spilled out of the doorways of
the Marin County GOP headquarters and onto the sidewalks of downtown San Rafael. This group
had gathered here to watch the final debate between Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown because they
wanted to support their candidate and be part of the movement they say is sweeping the state.

And with every question Meg answered during Tuesday’s gubernatorial debate, this crowd of
almost 300 people erupted into applause, rooting her on as she went toe-to-toe with Jerry Brown
in what most media watchers observed was a great performance by Meg.

“California is in trouble and we need something different,” Oakland resident Anita Gardyne said
amid the buzz. “We don’t need a career politician. We need someone with bold new ideas who has
the experience, history and track record of delivering success. Meg is that leader.”

And the best was yet to come: Shortly after the debate ended, Meg headed over to the Republican
headquarters for a surprise appearance with the hundreds of supporters who had gathered there.

They cheered as she emerged from a bright green bus, emblazoned with her message to voters:
“JOBS ARE ON THE WAY: On the road to A New California”. This bus will be traveling around the
state – from San Diego to Redding, from Riverside to Napa -- as Meg continues reaching out to
voters in all corners of California.

“We have a chance to make history, and every single one of you can be part of this,” Meg told the
crowd above roaring applause. “We are going to take back Sacramento, we are going to take back
California for our children and our grandchildren, and you’re going to be part of it.”

She added: “I am going to work my heart out for the next 20 days. I’m going to fight for every
single vote.”

Amanda Prince of Novato graduated from University of Southern California last spring. She’s been
looking for a job ever since, and she’s counting on Meg to help build a California where she can find
one. In return, Amanda says she’s doing everything she can to stand by Meg.

“I could be in a million other places but there’s nowhere else I’d rather be than supporting her,”
said Amanda as excited supporters buzzed around her at the debate party. “She’s got the ideas for
California. This is where I need to be, this is where people need to be is taking action and making a
difference for California.”
Meg hits the road to A New California

Since the beginning of her campaign, Meg has traveled to nearly all of California’s 58 counties.
She’s held nearly 700 campaign events and meetings. And she’s engaged voters from all walks of
life. But now is the time for the final push to get voters behind her message before Nov. 2’s critical
election.

So she’s hitting the road. After San Rafael, it was on to Los Angeles, where Meg’s bus pulled up to
Philippe’s, a 102-year-old landmark destination known as the birthplace of the French dipped
sandwich. Inside, she made her way through the lunch-rush crowds, shaking hands, snapping
photos and talking with voters about their concerns.

“Customers were calling their wives saying, ‘You can’t believe who’s here,’” said Richard Binder,
the restaurant’s general manager. “She stopped at every single table along the way and greeted
everybody, and then she came to our kitchen and greeted the staff. I think it says a lot about her
personality that she really wants to get in and dig and get to work. It meant a lot to have her
here.”

With a little guidance from Binder, Meg ordered a beef sandwich – double-dipped, of course – and
took a seat with a couple of voters nearby.

They talked about what they’d like to see change in California. They asked Meg about her plan for
jobs, and they congratulated her on her strong performance in Tuesday’s gubernatorial debate.

“I always dreamed to have lunch with the movers and shakers of the world and the people who can
have an impact on your life,” said Rachael Marsik of Santa Clarita. “She was really easy to talk to
and she’s got so many great ideas. It was awesome to have lunch with Meg Whitman.”
