A Detailed Lesson Plan in English

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
1. Identify the words that being modifies by the adverb and adjective.
2. Find the adverb and adjective in each sentence.
3. Construct their own sentences using Adverbs and Adjectives.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Adverb and Adjective by Modifiers.
Materials: Chalkboard, Chalk, Cartolina

Adverbs
- An adverb is a word that
modifies or describes a verb, an
adjective, or another adverb.

Modifying a verb => moved slowly

Modifying an adjectives => already


gigantic

Modifying an adverb => far away

Adverbs answer one of these


questions:

How? => drained quickly

Where? => land far away

When? => early yesterday

To what extent? => almost emplty

Find the adverbs and write them in the


box.
1. Jim politely asked the teacher
for assistance.
2. The cat entered the room
quietly so as not to alert the
dog.
3. The children played outside
yesterday because the weather
was so nice.
4. Susan tried to calm the very
frightened child.
5. Jack hit the ball hard into left
field.
6. The elderly man moved much
more slowly after his knee
surgery.
7. The fight began well for the
boxer.
8. The artist worked patiently for
hours at a time.
9. Eagerly we watched the game
for which we had so impatiently
waited.
10. I suddenly realized that I was
driving dangerously.

Adjectives
- modify nouns and pronouns; adverbs
modify verbs, and other adverbs. It
describes quantity or identifies
pronouns and nouns. Remember a
noun is a person, place or thing.
Pronouns such as I, me, we, he, she,
it, you and they, take the place of
nouns.
Adjectives also answer the following
questions: What kind? How many?
How much? Which one?

Descriptions concerning What kind?


Offer descriptive details about the
noun or pronoun.
It may describe physical
characteristics or emotions.

Here are few examples:


The black car, the angry customer, the
fashionable teen.

The questions How many? And How


much? Refer to quantity of the noun or
pronoun being describe by the
adjective.
For examples:
fourteen scents, a dozen books

Which one? Specially describes which


object is being referred to.
For example:
That car, this letter, those volunteers.

D. Application

Read the sentence. Circle the


adjective. On the line after the
sentence, write the noun that is being
described.

1. The musician played an expensive


guitar.
2. My boss invited me to a fancy
dinner.
3. The furry dog made the girl sneeze.
4. The hungry man lived on the
streets.
5. He was afraid to talk to the beautiful
woman.
6. The perfume in the container is
fragrant.
7. The shiny car caught his attention in
the yard.

List at least 10 adjective and adverb using in a sentence.
