CASE & FILM ANALYSIS


Guidelines & Format

Instructions

This course is designed to inform and stimulate thinking on issues of ethics and social responsibility
encountered in business. By working on cases, it intends to prepare students to recognize and
manage ethical and social responsibility as they arise, and to help them formulate their own
standards of integrity and professionalism.

Format

Each group are expected to work on the 4 films set for this course and should be able to submit all
written output with the following formatting;

Paper Size: Letter (8.5” x 11”)
Font Style: Cambria
Font Size: 11
Spacing: 1.5 (within paragraph) 8 pt (every after paragraphs)
Margin: Standard (1 inch on all sides)
Cover Page: Please follow the sample format on the next page

Paper and Presentation Outline

I. Perspective Held by the Group

(Specify the perspective held by the group in analyzing the case (e.g. Person mentioned in the case,
the CEO, Group of Customers, or Caused-Oriented Groups). A short rationale for the selecting the
perspective can be added here as well. Limit to 1-2 paragraphs.)

II. Statement of the Problem

a. Main Problem (Specific dilemma the character / organization is facing)
b. Sub-Problems (If the case has any)

III. Objectives

(These should address and answer the main and sub-problems. Conclusions and
Recommendations should also relate to this part. Give at least two (2) objectives.)

IV. Analysis of Relevant Case Facts

(State the case facts here and use applicable strategic management tools (e.g., SWOT Analysis,
PEST, Porter’s Five Forces) as well as relevant Management and CSR theories / concepts for
your analysis. No mentioning of case facts outside the case. This should be minimum of two (2)
pages with tables and graphs properly titled and labeled and citations following the APA
format. )

V. Statement of Strategies and Alternative Course of Actions



(Present and discuss two (2) alternative course of action that the organization/main
character in the case should take. This can be in bulleted format.)

VI. Decision Analysis

(Present the advantages and disadvantages of each course of action. Relate your analysis here
to your case facts and concepts mentioned in part IV. This should be a minimum of 1 page.)

VII. Conclusion

(Summarize the course of action you selected without repeating everything in the analysis.
Justify briefly your choice of action. Discuss how the selected action will achieve the objective,
hence, addressing the problem. 2 to 3 paragraphs at most.)

VIII. Recommendations

(This refers to the group’s specific action plan(s) in support of your selected course of action as
discussed in your conclusion. You may include activities that will support the actions. 2 to 3
paragraphs at most.)
