Position Description
The Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) will ensure TWB’s Rwanda corporate
office and operations align with the organization's mission, strategic objectives and
policies. Specific duties include managing the day-to-day operations, managing
team members to ensure they have what they need to create and implement
workplans, directing and supporting the team to meet strategic quarterly goals,
overseeing bakery operations for sound business practices, business promotion
initiatives, and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
The DDO will liaise with TWB HQ (Headquarters), providing regular reports on
activities, ensuring proper financial controls are in place, and representing the
organization in East Africa. The DDO will be supported and mentored by TWB HQ
so that the DDO feels confident in this role. TWB’s work is women-centric, and we
are looking for qualified candidates that share this value and who have extensive
experience in organizational and operational management and leadership.
Expectations
The DDO can expect to live and work in Kigali with travel to remote training/bakery
business sites per project needs. Sites may be several hours from TWB
headquarters in Kigali, thus the DDO should anticipate some workdays and
overnight stays away from home/headquarters. The DDO should expect to work
40 hours a week, operating 5 days a week. Local modes of transport may at times
be required. Interspersed overnights, of up to five nights, will be required from
time to time.
Roles & Responsibilities
The main roles for the DDO position include, but are not limited to:
Operations (30%)
• Responsible for the seamless flow of all TWB Rwanda corporate office
operations.
• Implement operational enhancements that will improve efficacy.
Management (30%)
• Work directly with TWB HQ to execute the Rwanda country programs in
keeping with TWB’s mission, vision, and strategic plan including oversight
and management of project plans, quarterly milestones, etc.
• Oversee Program Managers to ensure their project plans are on track to
complete quarterly goals and that they have enough support and direction
to successfully operate their respective bakery sites in Kigali, Gicumbi, and
Kagina.
• Oversee Finance Manager to ensure all financial systems are in place and
operating efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s in Business, Finance, International Development, Public Health, or
relevant field.
